First off.... "The Boys" is a comic by Garth Ennis that started off as a Wildstorm title but was dropped not because of popularity but because of content. I've been reading it at lunch and while I do enjoy the book it is very disturbing at time. The super-heroes of this world, with few exception have no redeeming qualities what-so-ever. They're all vain, homicidal, sex maniacs with no consideration for human life. This is why they're essentially the villains. This is the most reconstructed I think the super-hero archetype has ever been. So much so that the heroes of the book are a group of CIA backed people whose job is to take down the super-powers whenever the job needs done. The book doesn't pull any punches for violence or content. When the main character's Hughie's girlfriend is killed by super collateral damage it shows her broken body fused to a brick wall. After the teen super-heroes use local prostitutes it show them taking drugs to keep the pain down. Not to say that it's all depressing. The humor is there it's just super black. And not to say that the dark stuff gets in the way because it's still a fantastic book. It's just one of the few comics I've read that actually got under my skin.
The other thing is that there is a certain someone who's my friend on Facebook but I don't know her particularly well outside that. I do know she's single and looking because of the Facebook but I'm not sure how I should make the first move, or if I should. I open this to suggestions.
