CONOR OBERST: I'd first off like to say that it's such an honor to be playing with so many great bands tonight. I think everyone nominated is really awe- I - really amazing and it's an honor to play with them. It's also great to be recognized by the list makers who are obviously very talented themselves. And on top of that I'd like to thank the people that are putting on the show 'cause they're working really hard. But, um, beyond that I wanna say that the only bummer for tonight's performance is that we're helping to earn money a very horribly greedy and oppressive organization called Clear Channel and it's making it very, very difficult for any touring band or label that doesn't want to subscribe to their model - their monopoly and the payola system to survive in the music industry. And I want to say that if there's anyone out there that cares about - that wants to see music continue to exist as an art form and not a commercial good that now's the time to make a change because that's the way it's going and that there'll no longer be real music if we keep letting them shove it down our fucking throats. And so in the immortal words of our idiotic, gun-totin', coke snortin' president, I'd like to draw a big fat line in the sand and say "you're either with us or you're against us" and uh "let's roll". So can I get a goddamn timpani roll or what the fuck? [starts Let's Not Shit Ourselves (to Love or to be Loved)]
