I haven't updated my journal in quite a while. I can't really explain why other than the fact I just haven't felt like it. I went through a similar period about two years ago when I didn't update for like 6 months. So why am I updating now? Why to rant of course. Well, I'm still alive at least.
When you're young, it's easy to love Christmas. It's all about presents and gifts and food and candy. Even if you have to go to church on Christmas it's not that bad.
Now, I really dislike the holiday season. People like to act like they are happy and enjoying the season, but in fact this really brings out the worst in people. From the moms stampeding at the local Toys 'R Us to the traffic jams at the grocery store, people are crazy. The fact is, they don't even really have a reason to be crazy. The Christmas mothers are the worst. You wouldn't believe how many times I've heard that I ruined Christmas this year. Well in fact, if you had the forethought to order your gifts before the 22nd, they might have indeed arrived on time to make junior a happy boy on the 25th. Granted, things aren't perfect and we did indeed mess up a few orders, but no we are not going to give you a $300 portable DVD player for free just because your crack fiend neighbor stole it from your doorstep after you signed the signature waiver for UPS. You forget to go Xmas shopping, yeah, you're going to get burned. People have no concept of time or courtesy.
Does anyone even remember what Christmas is all about? It's so fucking commercial even athiests celebrate the holiday. Its all about sales at the local Target and Wal-Mart and whether or not they can meet Wall Street expectations.
Damn. I would vote to cancel Christmas.
Yeah, I'm just bitter. I'm sure a lot of people out there are really nice around the holidays and are all about spreading joy and good cheer and whatnot. But its just another day people, try not to get so worked up about it.
Now that my mini-rant is out of the way, maybe I'll have time to update more often.
In other news, I now have a dog. He's a small dog, about 15 pounds that we picked up from the local animal rescue group. We think he's a beagle\terrier mix, but aren't sure. He likes to chew on my shoes, but for the most part he's a good dog. Currently I'm training him to dance on his hind legs. His best time is 8 seconds.
