How to filter out the unimportant stuff

Jan 20, 2009 09:47

Here's a simple way of filtering out unimportant cruft from your "to-do" list at work:
  • Is this work funded? If there's no money to pay for my time to do it, it doesn't get done.
  • Will this help our customers do what they want in fewer mouse clicks, less time, fewer errors?
  • Will this help the company make money?
  • Will this save the company money?

If the new feature or doohickey isn't going to reduce errors, improve profitability or make customers feel good about using our service, why are we doing it?
