Young Grasshoppers can leap great distances. The best way to discover how far is to light their arse on fire.
OCBC competitions have always been the best way for me to practice writing comics, because they're high stress and high output without being proffessional - so if you lose/forfeit, all you sacrifice is your pride. After just under a year of competing my comicking abilities have trebled. It's a great community, and has readied me for my ultimate goal - Getting Off My Hiney and Working On My Own Comic.
Recently the OCBC community underwent some drama, and, I am ashamed to admit, I was one of the instigators. I believed my cause at the time was genuine, but still - one should remember the age old maxim. Arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympics. Win or lose, you're still retarded.
So. The air is clear there, and I've just finished my round one entry for the prestigious Law of Talos tourney. I can honestly say it's the best piece of comicking I've ever done, both scripting and artwise.
The tourney is set in a steampunk city, abandoned and tumbledown - the 32competitors are fighting in a knockout competition for the grand prize of a single wish from a wishing machine.
So, in a tourney full of ingenious tinkerers and inventors, I use my brutish luddite. Kit.
Hoboy.
My opponent is the lovely and talented Rocker-artist. Wish me luck - I'll need it.
