Some not despair

Dec 21, 2006 01:55

Finally got some good news with work. Shocking as that may be. I have been put down for fixed days, meaning that until further notice they aren't going to put me on the sick and unreasonable 4pm til 2.30am shift. Further more I have been given block days off.

The time table is;
On Mon 25th - Thurs 28th
Off Fri 29th- Sun 31st

Down sides:
Working Xmas and Stephan's day. These don't actually bother me that much, the travel will be a bitch and the pay is less than most would get for it but that apart they are just days. Having said that I wonder if I have become too out of synch with time and the rest of the world due to working and only seeing my house in the early morning or late at night...how and ever..

4 day block of work after only one day off, that being Xmas eve.

Side note on downsides: Still don't know if I'm working new years day but in likelihood it will be a day off or a sicky due to hang over etc.

Upsides:
3 days off (Friday through Sunday)

I have the 29th and 31st off allowing me to make it to both the parties I was booked for.

I'm on days, this means that if other parties that need my attention show up I can get to them straight from work, rather than missing them.

Just for the sake of showing a little despair 'cause I'd hate to disappoint you, dear readers, I am becoming somewhat disenchanted with the product I am supporting. Not because the work is getting me down (and to be honest my colleagues are a great bunch) but because I have realised how excessively buggy it is and seeing it behind the scenes I can see how little is being done to fix some of the issues (*sigh* oh the joys of no internal work communication).

Joke of the Week:
Q: How many GMs does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: None, it's working as intended.

job, update
