Sam the Blue Eyed Husky with a 100 lives!

So about eight years ago this puppy named Sam wandered into a friend's yard. He had a sign around his collar that said "My name is Sam, please take care of me." Now the friends tried to keep Sam, but he got abused by their dogs and was an unhappy Blue-Eyed Boy. My parents took him in, and Sam was happy, he was just very skinny.

Cut to a few days later and Sam barfs up black plastic. As the folks had only fed him food related items, they took him to the vet, lo and behold, it turns out that Sam liked to eat plastic - to wit, there was an entire garbage bag or three wrapped around his lower intestines - enter the Ru-N-y bypass and Sam could once again eat - although he was a bit finicky.

He liked:

Chicken Soup
Turkey
Bones
Offal
Rudy's Bar B Q
and walks

On one such walk a few years ago he drank from the puddles that were around a construction site... that wasn't too good as he promptly went into kidney failure. Mom's chicken soup and rice (homemade chicken soup) got him out of that.

There was last summer when the folks finally shaved the dogs, leading to the discovery of a cyst on his back that would have killed him...

Anyway, point being, Sam had about 9 lives and went on walks, ate his food when he felt like it, he had something going on neurologically that would occasionally cause him to trip, he had bad arthritis in his back - but still, he loved walking...

Yesterday, he went on a walk, had a treat and wandered away from the porch... Mom and Dad looked all over for him and couldn't find him, they thought he wandered off to die. They found him this morning, curled up at the bottom of the garden, still alive, but not moving.

The vet got him up the hill on a stretcher, got him there, Sam walked a bit. The vet's going to give him some bed rest, steroids and whatnot...

Looks like our boy will live!!
