So while I may not post a great deal (crickets) I do (in my non-existent free time) still read fan fic. Yip, I am a proud member of the "if you don't agree with what they are doing on television or whatever, write it yourself or find someone who writes better than you to fix the entire thing."
Anyway, there I was, trolling around the Pit, and lo and behold an author who I kinda liked has written something new. This was an author who'd I'd made notice of, kinda liked the first story she wrote, she had a pretty memorable nick, and the one major complaint about the story that I had was that she had an unfortunate tendency to want to end every chapter on an OMG!CliffHanger! and a very strange want to make Grissom into a dog.
Okay, but that part worked!!!
Anyway...
She'd gone off and written some more stories, some I liked, one was given up completely due to people being OMG!Mean! and one that I actually enjoyed due to the really strange way she was trying to do a Dom/Slave relationship (I think) and ended up sounding more like Miss Manners. So on to the next thing, she wrote something new.
And it was a complete disaster. There was gnashing and bashing and muteness and head banging and while I took Grissom as a dog, I completely didn't buy the mute, headbashing in grief version that she was giving me.
Nope - not at all
So I wrote a comment in the reviews section, while extolling the virtues of the hurt/comfort story, I basically laid it out as to why I thought her story totally didn't work. Yes, I wrote a negative review, not a flame, just a negative review.
So I got a response which amounted to: That happened to me, stop reading my stuff.
So while there really isn't a response to "that happened to me" other than to respond, maybe the story would be better served than in trying to force it down the throat of a character until its so OOC that vomit comes spewing out, the stop reading thing got me a little more than peeved.
I mean "stop reading?"
Bite me
I've been reading, I've been reading since I was two and a half.
I read everything.
If I can read Snape and an owl I can read friggin' het.
