you are not worthless by any means. you have no idea how many people have to deal with mania, bi-polar and manic depression. its tough to overcome and it really does test your physical and mental abilities to be a strong person, but you can do it.

the most important part in getting a successful grasp on your depression is getting to a real doctor. no general doctors. they have no idea what to do in the case of mental illness and often prescribe meds that will not or do not work. additionally they fail to monitor your feelings while on the meds and often even prescribe out-dated meds. I know this from many personal experiences of just wanting to get the meds and not deal with any other part of it.

a good doctor = a psychiatrist who knows his/her stuff. try to google psych's in your area and see if you cant find reviews on them. call them and speak with them over the phone and ask how much experience they have, what kind of things you might expect ect. by hearing them speak you should be able to tell if they are good at what they do. I have to say.... Im 2 for 2 on my success rate of having intelligent psychs and i think many more are smart in comparison to general doctors who dont take note of side effects/weight gain or any of that.

when you start out you might go once a month but as you begin to feel better you will be able to go every few months and typically just for a quick update and med refill.

if you arent already on meds this is a good plan of action to get you to a stable point.

if you are and youre still feeling the extreme ups and downs then you should question your doctors ability to deal with mental illness and consider a possible change in doctors or at the very minimum have a conversation with them about what you're experiencing to see if they can help you.

Im on Lamictal for a mood stabilizer and it really helps with the extreme high's and low's that come with manic episodes.
