awkward

I've traveled into another country, recently... and as we all know, the main language to use and majority could understand is English (even for the most non-native speaker). I heard that the most spoken language is actually Chinese, but I think English is wildly used internationally
as when I go abroad, it's kinda like life-or-die situation (okay i'm exaggerating) because there's no way I could handle over from a situation except communication with people nearby, and the common language I know is just English 😅 even it's not my mother's language, I force myself to use it in a way people could understand using the logic in my language (which sometimes could lead further than it's actual meaning). And because I'm not in my country, I tried speaking in a way people there could somehow got what I meant.
what shock me after being there for awhile was that I started speaking English the way people there speak it. from the structure, accent, dialect etc. at first I didn't realize it, but then my sibling pointed it out one day after one tiring day: my spoken English was completely ruined out and being randomized. yeah, because most of the times it's me who speak to another people there, my sibling didn't help at all (self-proclaimed that 'my english not good enough i'll leave it all to you'). being hit with that realization, I was sad the first time I using English much isn't in England🤣 I always like british accent, but what I've got is far from that, sadly😂
for now I'm still trying to polish my English for more 'international' accent, because it's easier to understand, and also, that one accent is so random and sometimes make me sound not serious at all, probably because the excessive pressure sounds (from the time I'm trying to make people understand what I mean)
but the silver lining is I'm more confident in my English, mainly in daily use/conversation, because of the mentality I got from my travel "just speak and try to make people understand". I'm not see English as difficult language anymore, because I'll get better by the time, because that's what language for: communication and understanding (delivering a message). it's also motivated me to learn it more, so I could improve it. and it's give me more access to international content, as I could understand some of them, because if I wait for the translation in my language, it would take time to wait for it.
so, if someone would like to practice or point out my lack in English, I'll gladly accept it and maybe we could laugh it off too!
