Nightmares during my bus nap

This was the first memorable phrase that I said during our long two-week trip to Yunnan. Basically, it was a whirlwind of an adventure. I think it's so special, I need to write about everyday. Unfortunately, that will be a lot. So I will not write today, since I am tired.

To give an overview, we went to Yunnan and had 6 different homestays at different minority villages. These include Hani, Yi, Bai, Dai, Tibetan, and Naxi people. Everynight for the two weeks, we stayed at a different hotel, living out of a suitcase/backpack, getting smelly and dirty and tried to communicate with the locals.

We climbed rice terraces, were woken up by roosters crowing at 4 a.m., rafted down a river bordering Burma, went to "Shangri-La", and played basketball with Tibetans at a high altitude, just to name some memorable moments. The weather ranged from tropical (we crossed the Tropic of Cancer at one point) with palm trees, to snowing at very high altitudes. In short, this was experience all of China in one province.

And all this only scratches the surface of my trip. Stay tuned for more.
