Dorian Gray

The Picture of Dorian Gray is one of my all-time favorite novels, so I'm pretty hyped about a new film adaptation scheduled for Thanksgiving.

One question, though: Why does the world insist that Dorian is a brunette? In the 1940s adaptation, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and in pretty much every book jacket of the novel, they give him brown hair. Now, don't get me wrong - I think Ben Barnes definitely has a distinct Dorian Gray quality, but I just don't understand this pervasive idea that he's not a blonde. He's supposed to appear angelic, and this is why so many people refuse to believe all the evils of which he's accused. Therein lies the satire of the novel! And maybe it's just me, but when I think of an angel, I think of golden locks. And more important - Oscar Wilde wrote him as a blonde!

Though, I love that Colin Firth is playing Lord Henry. Quite the turnaround from Mr. Darcy. :)
