It's Been Too Damn Long

I apologize for the wacky, wrong date on here but until I figure it out, surely you can live with it?

Lots going on now. I've spent this morning working on my resume for a prospective job. The job: a position via Americorps/VISTA for an advocate for the rights of people with disabilities at the Leaven Center just outside of Lansing, MI. It doesn't pay much, but they'd be putting me up and feeding me while I was there and it looks to be worth a billion times its weight in terms of work that's meaningful to me, and I'd honestly rather work for free doing my part to make this world a better place than make thirty grand a year working for some fascist pig selling cellphone plans or some bullshit like that. I would love to just once, JUST ONCE, have a job that means more to me than a paycheck.

I'm going to a UU conference in Columbus Ohio tomorrow, which is exciting in itself, even more exciting is getting to spend more time with My Love, to see her face and hear her voice unfettered by cellphone static, and well, you know. I love her endlessly and cannot wait to be physically near her again.

Add to this that while I'm working on the resume and getting my references together (still need two addresses to make it complete and have the whole package ready to go), I'm supposed to be helping my Dad fix the brakes on his car. He seems to be doing OK so far, but I'm sure he could use a helping hand. Supposed to be hanging out with and dog-sitting for my bestest buddy Tom. It's our friend Bill's birthday, and we're talking about doing a Presidential Debate Drinking game.

Anyway, during my little scraps of free time that I find myself with, I find myself looking at good ole Homestar Runner! which is funniness for your soul and funnybone, if you're one of the three people who have somehow managed to miss it.

Goin' to Boston next week for a C*UUYAN Steering Committee meeting, so if you're a UU and a Young Adult and have some ideas or concerns about the way things are going which can be reasonably addressed over a weekend, gimmie a holla'!

Yr. Pal,
