What's Going On?

Mother mother,
There's too many of you crying
Oh, brother brother brother,
There's too many of you dying...

So...

Last night was genuinely fun. Hung out with Tom, Shawna, and a mutual friend of theirs whose name unfortunately slips my mind right now. We went to the Magic Stick and checked out a few rawk bands, then went over to Small's, which has one of the best jukeboxes in five counties. Had a good time.

Checked out my friend Tomoko's church today...it kind of reminds me of the UU Fellowship of Galveston in that it's small and kind of humble but the people there are really nice and they have an awesome minister. Then, on the way out of there, Tomoko forgot her cell phone and wallet there, which meant we had to go back to the church so she could grab 'em. Some Good Samaritans decided to take them for safe keeping, so we went to their house to get them, to find that they had gone out to lunch or something.
So we wound up camping out in front of these peoples' house until they showed up, and got to hang out with two very nice people. The man who lived there built a harpsichord that he let me play, which was a good thing, because I've had this little fragment of music going through my head for months that I always thought would sound good on that instrument. It did.

Now at my friend Robert's house for his birthday, everybody's watching violent Japanese movies and I'm not really into it right now.

Just got off the phone with Tom. More really bad shit has gone down.
Last Thursday or Friday, Tom got denied a promotion that he'd been trying to get for over a year, but instead got passed up for a guy he trained, so there was that to begin with.
In the space of one night, last night:

Our friends Greg and Jessica got DUI'd
Bruce, Tom's roommate, came back from a job training conference in Chicago and apparently had a really shitty time and now wants to quit
Shawna recieved the news that one of her friends was beaten to death by her husband

So things are pretty seriously fucked with my friends right now. And I'm over at the house of a bunch of other good friends of mine, and they're watching Japanese people kill each other. Ugh.
