That Traumatic Morning

I've been unable to answer everyone's questions, so I'm just going to write about the whole ordeal here.

Saturday morning, I was woken up by some guy in my room, rummaging around my things. In a daze, I asked him who he was, and after being quite alarmed to see me awake, he laughed and said "Oh sorry, I'm with them" and then proceeded to scuttle out again, closing the door behind him. My first thought was that he was a friend of my flat mate's, so although I felt confused, I didn't think too much of it for a moment. Immediately after he left my room, I heard him go into hers, so I figured my assumptions were correct.

However.

After a few minutes, I heard her screaming "FUCK OFF!" at him, which was then followed by a lot of banging, a lot of shouting and finally the front door slamming. By this time I'd jumped out of bed and run to my door, to find Charlotte in the corridor, shouting "He took my fucking laptop!"

It all became clear that we'd been burgled.

Turns out, that after someone had sent some keys back to us (I won't go into this, because it's ridiculous and stupid, but that's just how things went), these guys must have somehow walked through the street door which sometimes gets left open, gone through the mail, found the keys and then let themselves in. After leaving my room, that guy went into Charlotte's, harassed her and her girlfriend while they were in bed and then run off with her laptop, while the other one took her wallet and phone, along with some other bits.

It was a massive shock, naturally we're angry and shaken up by the whole thing.

It didn't help that our landlord put up a huge fight against having the locks changed, but luckily he finally changed his mind.

So now the locks have been changed, and we're feeling safer.

Alas, we didn't have insurance, so in that sense Charlotte's a bit stuffed, but the important thing is that we're safe, no one was hurt and it's over now.

I hope this has made things a bit clearer, and thank you to everyone who showed their concern.
