This week has been a bit of a shambles as far as VB.Net is concerned, our trainer is off tending to her ill sprogs, we had no cover on Monday or Tuesday, and the guy that was sent over for the rest of the week hasn't exactly helped a lot. I'm wishing I'd taken today off as well, the day could have been spent much more profitably at home now that I have Visual Studio installed.
I'd probably waste time editing photos though. I've been trying to convince some people from my course to go out and see some local gigs, but very few people here seem interested in local music, even when its free to go & check out. Most are of the opinion that local automatically means bad, a view that I myself was guilty of a few years back, when I lived in Bangor, and saw very few gigs outside of the Ulster Hall or the Limelight. To try and remedy this I brought a load of tracks in on mp3 to show them that there is some great stuff out there. It was quite interesting finding out which bands appealed to which people. I may even have convinced a few sods to come out to the odd gig once in a while :)
Going to BelFEST on Wednesday night has really put me back in a snapping mood, the last gig I'd taken photos at was Killing Joke, and before that I can't even remember. If I don't go out anywhere tonight I might even knock up a new site. unfortunately I arrived too late to catch Morph, but saw a brilliant Debonaires set, Messiah Syndrome for the first time (also good stuff, nice to see this kind of band in Norn Iron) and the very unexpectedly entertaining Roysta.
Tonight theres a few bands on in the Mandela but I'm not sure if I'll go, dunno if they're my cup of tea.
There was supposed to be a Saturday night Duke of York gig but I've since been told it was cancelled, does anyone know if this is true?
