~No One’s Pov~

“This is preposterous!” shouted the Queen. “What kind of nonsense is this, Lee Donghae?!”

Donghae angrily stormed out from the Great Hall, ignoring all the whispers that erupted, especially his mother’s outrage. He dragged Hyukjae along; his every step was enough to show how pissed and angry he was. It was clear that his mother disliked Hyukjae and as much as he loved his mother, something inside him just boiled when his mother glared at his suiter in such a menacing way.

He didn’t like it.

For the first time in Donghae’s life, he disliked his mother. He thought that his mother will support him and welcome Hyukjae, or at least acknowledge the other with respect, but none of that happened. His rage slowly consumed him, tightening his grip on Hyukjae’s fragile wrist. It was only when Hyukjae let out a yelp that he noticed. He instantly stopped in his tracks, turning to look at his suiter with worry.

“Sorry.”

Hyukjae shook his head, “Don’t worry, it doesn’t hurt much,” he softly assured. He stared at his master, opening his mouth to speak, but thought against it as his mouth closed shut again. He wanted to question why Donghae acted against the Queen, because it wasn’t normal to see Donghae this angry-aside from the incident with Minho.

“We’ll talk later,” Donghae sternly said as he continued to pull Hyukjae down the hall.

Something inside Hyukjae knew that Donghae won’t be bringing up this topic ever again.

~

The sun light pierced through the small windows, assisting Hyukjae as he mopped the wooden floor with rags and cloths. His master was resting on his bed, while he was cleaning and contemplating if he should bring up the topic about the Queen again. Looking over his right shoulder, he eyed Donghae’s sleeping figure. Puffing his cheeks, he fought between waking and not waking Donghae up so they can get things straight.

A sigh escaped his lips, and from the corner of his eyes, he could see Donghae’s figure stir a little. He’s heard many things about how Donghae adores and respects his mother more than his father. He’s heard so many, from Donghae being the Queen’s most favorite son, to the Queen letting Donghae do whatever he wants. But, somehow, everything seemed a bit different to him now …

Hyukjae stood amongst the crowd as Donghae and his brothers stood before the King and Queen. Everyone living in the palace was ordered to attend the welcoming of their King and Queen back from their long journey. Hyukjae stared in awe, absolutely thrown aback from the Queen’s beauty.

What he didn’t know: her beauty itself was the false beauty of a fallen angel.

The strings of a harp played, motioning for everyone to bow before their rulers. Hyukjae, unsure and new to everything, hesitantly looked around before dumbly copying everyone else as he made a ninety degree bow. He could see Donghae from afar, and inwardly smiled at how childish Donghae looked right now, standing in front of the Queen like a kid waiting to receive his birthday gift.

The musical sound subsided and everyone stood up again, followed by an uproar of greetings. He watched as the Queen gestured a finger towards Donghae, and watched as he stepped up, giving the Queen a hug. He noticed Heechul rolling his eyes and for the first time, he finally took note of the other two princes he had yet to meet. They were both astoundingly handsome, but if Hyukjae had to really choose between the four princes, he, of course, would choose his master.

“I guess this is your first time seeing Yesung and Yunho?” a familiar voice whispered in his ear from behind, making him jolt from his stance as he accidentally fell back into a broad chest.

He quickly stood up when he felt a pair of hands firmly gripping onto the sides of his waist. He turned around and felt his heart drop at the vampire before him. His face flushed to a deep shade of red, and he suddenly felt really stupid. Why was he blushing anyways?

“Sorry if I scared you,” Minho apologized, sending him a smile that melted his heart.

What will he do if Donghae sensed that his heart was beating irregularly fast for Minho? He quickly shook the thought away. It must just be because he’s effected by how handsome Minho is. Every vampire is good-looking, so he shouldn’t drown himself too much being dazzled by their beauty. So in a small voice, he slightly bowed in apology for bumping into the other.

“Sorry for bumping into you,” he softly whispered before resuming watching his master with great concentration. He didn’t want to have mix feelings around Minho-Donghae told him to only think about him, so he’s going to only think about his master. But, eventually, his concentration was ruined when Minho quietly chuckled, immediately gaining his attention. “What’s so funny?” he asked.

Minho resumed to chuckle quietly, the crowd around them were too busy talking amongst themselves and welcoming the King and Queen back to even bother about the two, “Nothing. Nothing is funny, can I not laugh at how cute you are?” he questioned back, eying Hyukjae with a look so intent and undecipherable.

Hyukjae, confused and pulled back by the weird feeling that was crawling inside his heart, averted his attention back to Donghae. Minho didn’t miss the sudden change in Hyukjae’s attitude as he stopped laughing and followed the human’s gaze towards Donghae who was laughing along with his mother and brothers. Moments passed with silence between the two as they both continued watching Donghae show off his talents to the crowd, doing things Hyukjae has never seen before, playing the piano that appeared out of nowhere, until Minho finally decided to break the quiet atmosphere around them.

“He’s good at everything, don’t you think so? Everyone loves him; his mother loves him the most too. The simplest comments can turn him into a puppy. Sometimes, I think his mother treats him like one. You know puppies, once they get praised, they will only want more.” Minho said, jaw tightening as he viewed the scene with Hyukjae.

Hyukjae felt the need to defend Donghae, but somehow, he couldn’t speak.

The vampire let out a bitter smile, “He must have said bad stuff about me to you, huh?” he turned his head to stare at Hyukjae, waiting for an answer, only to be answered with silence as the human refused to look at him. He let out a sigh and forced out a strained laugh, little did he know though, Hyukjae’s heart tightened at how sad it sounded.

“What’s keeping your mind so occupied, Hyukjae?”

Donghae’s soothing voice woke him up from his reverie as he turned around to face his master with a small smile. He noticed that Donghae seemed calmer now, and he was relieved. He put the rag he was holding onto on the ground as he stood up to face Donghae. “Nothing much…” he half-heartedly replied.

Eyes narrowing, Donghae stood up from his position as he gestured for Hyukjae to come sit down next to him, who reluctantly did so. “I know what’s on your mind.”

Hyukjae looked down and bit onto his bottom lip, twiddling with his hands.

“You weren’t thinking about me,” Donghae mumbled, looking up at the small window.

The redhead clearly understood what Donghae meant behind those words and decided to zip his mouth shut, in case Donghae gets angry at him.

“I’m not angry at you,” it was as if Donghae read his mind. He couldn’t help but raise his head to stare at Donghae, who was staring at him with such gentleness, he felt his body weaken. Donghae let out a reassuring smile as he took one of Hyukjae’s hands and rested the palm of it onto his cheek,  “I’m not angry at you,” he repeated, to make himself clear, “I just want you to know that, so don’t ignore me, okay?”

Hyukjae timidly nodded, honestly not knowing what to say. All he knew was that he was happy, for the moment.

“And,” Donghae paused as his free hand circled around Hyukjae’s pale neck, softly caressing the delicate skin as if it will bleed if he gripped on too strong. “Sorry about last time…I didn’t know what came over me,” he apologized, eying Hyukjae’s neck with slightly blue eyes.

Hyukjae smiled, bringing his other hand to cup his master’s face, “It’s hard for a suiter to not forgive their master.”

KNOCK! KNOCK!

“Lee Donghae! I demand you to open this door this instant!” shouted the Queen.

Donghae and Hyukjae both pulled apart as they eyed the door.

“You shouldn’t create such ruckus in the palace, Si Yeon.”

Donghae felt his body froze upon hearing his father speak up for him for the first time he’s ever been born. It was rare to hear his parents’ address each other by their real names. It only so happens when they’re in a fight and are seriously battling each other for superiority. He knew his mother had a strict tongue, he knew his mother was not the nicest Queen, and he knew his mother will never win against his father. They both had two different hearts, two different hearts that desired to rule the land of Moah in two different ways.

“What are you talking about, Ji Hwan?!” the Queen flared. “This is just ridiculous! Do you think I’m going to allow my youngest son to have a male as a suiter as well!? I won’t allow that disgusting human to feed our son! Have you seen how much Donghae has changed?! He got angry at me for no reason!”

“You insulted his suiter,” the King calmly enunciated every word.

Donghae turned to look at Hyukjae who only stared back at him with eyes that said, “I’m okay”.

"Suiter?! What is this nonsense! I'm sure that damn suiter of his brainwashed our son! He's a vermin! And vermins are meant to be disposed of!" the Queen exclaimed as she began tugging on the door knob.

Donghae felt his blood boil at this proposal, he was about to stand up and open the door to stop his mother from insulting his suiter, but Hyukjae beat him to it as Hyukjae took a hold of his wrist and shook his head, gesturing for Donghae to not act against the Queen.

“She’s talking badly about you.” Donghae hissed.

Hyukjae could only smile, “What others say me about doesn’t hurt.” It will only hurt if you said those things, Donghae.

For once, Donghae really felt like talking back to his mother and prove her wrong.

Hello everyone~! Miss you miss you~~~~~~~~~~~~!

It’s been a long time since I’ve updated, right? Well, I will have to apologize to my dear myagnae7 for not being able to update in such a long time OTL. I’ve been thinking for a quite a while  now…and I plan to leave LJ as a writer, but I will remain as a reader and comment from time to time whenever I have time. Who knows, I might come back to LJ whenever, but I won’t be here on LJ as writer anymore…well…as of the moment ^^ I’m going to migrate to a different site known as AFF. Anyway~~~! I will leave LJ once I finish this vampire series, there’s just a lot going on lately, but I will still be loitering around LJ though, so no worries. Thank you to all of those who still remember me and to all the friends that I’ve made here on LJ.

ANYWAY~~! I have a voting going on atm and it's on Minho's suiter. I've had someone suggest to me to have Jonghyun as his suiter since they ship JongHo, but I don't only want one vote alone, I want to hear out everyone's suggestion, so please vote who should be Minho's suiter:

Jonghyun, Taemin, Key, or Onew

I've been gone for a long while now, so sorry if I forgot to spot someone...OTL
