"A section from [your play] has been nominated to be performed as Highlights, the collection of excellent original student work -- writing, composing, choreography and the performances resulting from any of these--which opens the Regional on Monday, April 3. Although the plays will not be presented in their entirety, you and your kids should think of this as a very special award -- it is meant to showcase original student work which is not at regional level but which adjudicators see as possessing something especially strong and creative both in creation and execution.
Given that there were 116 shows in the Toronto Districts, and only 16 go on to Regionals, the choice of these nine pieces from your shows is an honour of which you, your kids and your school should be very proud!"
this is part of the email that ms hammond received from a sears festival representative today, and forwarded to me. little old 'fairy tale woes' is being given a special recognition and being asked to perform a scene selection on april third. how fucking amazing is that? in the past (as far as i know), dmci has never been even close to being asked back to perform. i'm literally bouncing off the walls.
