Maybe we will get it into Science

This week has been filled with 5:30 wake ups, lots of time in the molecular lab playing with urchin RNA, and LOTS of time talking to, sexing, and measuring gobies.

How the Activation of HSP70 (heat shock protein) in the Black Urchin (Centrostephanus spp.) Varies with Depth: (or doesn't...we shell see soon enough)
In theory I like molecular biology. I like to read about it, I like what possibilities it presents....but in practice I don't have the patients or *grace* for it. Thats what I have learned this last week and a half. Extracting and amplifying RNA takes a LONG TIME! I am currently waiting for the PCR machine to finish....wait...wait...wait...wait....wait...

None of the fish I am working with have changed sex yet....though there are a few suspicious looking females.

And this is life for me at the moment. Fish, urchins, and RNA.

Next week we are taking a trip up the coast and ending in Santa Cruise where I will leave the group and head to Sac for the weekend :) I'm excited.
