So, it's probably time for a post.
Been struggling with the back injury lately - it's been pretty much dominating my thoughts, which is a lot of why I haven't posted much. I know that I'm not the only one who's ever had to deal with this kinda thing, but damn, does it suck.
Besides the physical therapy, I've started working with a dietitician to help get my weight under control again. Being heavy is not doing me any favors, and I need to get back on the right track with my weight loss again. I gained a good bit of that 100 lbs I lost back, and that's just not acceptable at this point. Once I'm well enough, I'll also be starting to work with a personal trainer.
Other than that, things are pretty much same-old-same-old. Ash has been handling my busted, whiny ass with incredible grace and good humor, even though I'm sure I've been a total pain in the ass at times. I truly don't know what I'd do without her.
This past week I've been thinking about starting my own home-based baking business, and doing some research in relation to that. Let me tell you, finding info on the subject isn't easy. It's looking like I'm just going to have to call up the department of health and get the word direct from them. And from what I can tell, the word is going to be no, I can't run it out of my house at all, and that I'll have to find a commercial kitchen willing to rent me space. That's OK, and even somewhat expected, but there's still so much to think about.
As a part of this whole idea, I'm working on developing a handful of "core" recipes that I would use, at least to start off with. I'm planning on putting a call out for taste testers soon, so if you're willing to be a guinea pig and get free baked goodies sent to you, keep an eye out. All I'd ask is that for each item you receive, you fill out a short questionnaire and return it back to me. Kind of a "focus-group", if you will.
And...that's pretty much it for now.
