I don't think I'd use the term 'highly unattractive' to describe your work. its more like comparing the difference between the pretty and delicate style of mainstream (shojo) manga to your flowing, energetic and expressive cartoons. There's definitely something really good you've picked up from the pacing of manga but not necessarily from the tools or style thats most widely used. (I hope that makes sense ... I don't think I'm good at describing what I mean)
one time I'd called my own character designs ugly was quickly corrected. I'd forgotten I'd spent most the year designing and drawing 'boybands'.
The colouring stuff has been interesting. When N coloured Sarah's page first I was so confused they'd not tried the opposite to see what that would look like. soooo interesting to see.
I really like this song, I'd not listened to the album in a while (lol because I got a portable DAB radio and I listen to 6music allll the time instead). But yeah, its a bonus track - but when I saw the song title I was pretty excited to see one of my favourite new(ish) bands referencing things from the stash of 90's NME/Q magazines I've been collecting. - glad you liked it too. :)
hehe don't worry, I'm only joking around! XD I actually find cartoonish artwork to be more attractive then the 'prettier' mainstream styles, I find them more charming ^_^ Although I do find it more fun to draw 'unattractive' people (or people with weird features haha!!) Nope I know what you mean, after reading comics from all over the world I admit I still find the typical pacing and panelling of japanese comics to be the most enjoyable for me, it flows so much better, and I put that into my art ^^; It's weird, a lot of people when they describe my work say it has a 'European' feel, although I'm still mostly artistically influenced by Japanese artists, it just happens they have slightly more cartoony styles, like Toriyama and Tezuka ^^; Of course I read so many comics from all over the world now, but I can't shake off the influences of stuff I read as a kid =3
