Christmas time is upon us, and therefore, Christmas Media Recs are upon us as well! I know like, tomorrow is Christmas Eve and that gives no one time to rent anything if they even would... but I've been hella busy.
Some great tv and some great classics and some great new-ish ones, too!
Favorites are in bold!!!

"Amends" -- Buffy the Vampire Slayer
"So-Called Angels" -- My So-Called Life

"Robot Chicken Christmas Special" -- Robot Chicken
"The One With the Creepy Holiday Card" -- Friends
"The Sno-C" -- The O.C.
"The Chrismukka That Almost Wasn't" -- The O.C.
Movies:
The Holiday
Its out in theatres right now. SO GOOD. Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz switch houses for the holiday to get over their failed loves (Rufus Sewell and Ed Burns, repsectively). Cameron meets Jude Law, Kate's brother; Kate meets Jack Black, a coworker of Cameron's ex. Love and happiness and holidays ensue... and i love the old man. he makes me almost cry near the end. TOO GOOD.
The Polar Express
omg, i dont know how anyone can NOT love this movie. it is too cute. and too wonderful. obviously, its the polar express, that wonderful storybook im sure everyone had when they were little kids.
The Muppet's Christmas Carol
Charles Dickens classic with a muppet twist. i saw this when i was like 7 or 8 years old, whenever it came out in theatres, and i fell in love with it and have been watching it ever since, every fucking christmas!!! plus im in love with Michael Caine, so that doesnt hurt either.
Love Actually
too adorable. It takes a lot of individual stories, and in the end they all somehow end up connected (well mostly). Its just the everyday lives of a bunch of Londoners in the days leading up til Christmas. LOVE IT! It's got some of my favorites: Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson. Also Hugh Grant; he's not a favorite, but he's excellent in this.
Surviving Christmas
it is kind of retarded. but i still love it. Ben Affleck and James Gandolfini, Catherine O'Hara, and Christina Applegate. Ben Affleck's character goes to his "childhood home" for xmas, and invades the lives of those who currently live there. its TOO FUNNY! i love it.
The Family Stone
this movie is SO GOOD it makes me CRY. yes, that indeed it does, which is strange, bc not many movies can do that. Its the craziness of Christmas with the family of the Stones. also involving the "family stone" -- an engagement ring. Sarah Jessica Parker, Luke Wilson, Dermott Mulroney, Claire Danes, Rachel McAdams, Diane Keaton, and Craig T. Adams. SOO GOOD!
Just Friends
Very funny movie. Ryan Reynolds, Anna Faris, Chris Klein, Amy Smart, Julie Hagerty and Chris Marquette (that kid from Joan of Arcadia). Ryan goes home to his parents for the first time in like FOREVER bc they get snowed-in or iced-in around the Jersey area, and its Christmas time and craziness ensues! As usual with Ryan Reynolds. the brothers (Ryan and Chris Marquette) are hysterical, as is Anna Farris. She never lets you down!
Christmas with the Kranks
not espeically a favorite, but its here bc it was mildly funny -- Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis. Theyre daughter joins the Peace Corps and wont be home fro xmas, so they plan a cruise. Havoc ensues with the neighbors, particularly Dan Akryod (yeah!) because they forgo christmas and decorations and everything. Then their daughters like "hey! im coming home with my new fiance!" and they rush around and things are funny.
It's A Wonderful Life
I've never been partial to this movie... until i saw it in its entirety at the afi silver screen theatre in silver spring this past saturday. it really is quite good. and i almost cried. ALMOST. so, with that being said, im adding it to the list this year.
Miracle on 34th Street
when i include this, i mean the newer version with the little girl who played Matilda and Dylan McDermott and the old guy from Jurassic Park, whom i love! Well, im also including the original version, though i still have yet to see it (i know, apparently i led a deprived childhood). Well, great movie. everyone should know what it is. Duh!
White Christmas
I've only seen parts of it, but Diana loves it so it must be good. It is a classic and all that. plus, i think the duet me and Di sand, "sisters", is from this movie.
RENT!
I know, technically not christmas, but it does involve it and i love it too much. its my most FAVORITE musical EVER, you know!!!
and as an added bonus... my favorite Hannukah movie:
Eight Crazy Nights
im really upset they didnt have this at blockbuster bc i so wanted to rent it. thats what i get for going on CHristmas Eve Eve. Alas, it is Adam Sandler. and very very funny. i love the peeing reindeer. but not when they vomit or shit or whatever icky bodily function they do. thats too gross for me. that little old man is just too cute and funny. hahaha. and Adam is a total jerk and i love it!
that being said, i think im done with recs. i do have to say, there is a reason no one will EVER find A Christmas Story (or is it The Christmas Story?) on a list from me: why? bc i really do not like that movie. yeah i know "youre gonna shoot your eye out!" is a classic line, but still... there is just something about it that im not a fan of so much...
THE END!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
HAPPY CHRISTMAS!
HAPPY HANNUKAH!
HAPPY KWANZA!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
