Ycon 2008; The Melancholy of me

May 29, 2008 14:52

Just a quick note because I'll never get around to a well thought out post:

• I just submitted my early bird pre-reg for Yaoi Con 2008. I hope many on my friends list have done the same. (Selfish, I know, since proximity is on my side. But it won't be fun without you!)

• I watched The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya in DVD-order (aka the story's chronological order as opposed to the broadcast order). Even if I had not been alerted to the difference by w_10_00, the events of episode 6 would still have seemed waaaaaaay too climactic for a series midpoint. But I'm glad I watched it the way I did. Even though Kyon's internal monologue was the perfect end to the series, it's good to know there's life beyond the romantic climax. ETA: BTW, this is another series I would have missed out on without a personal recommendation to watch it. The "packaging" looks like fan service. The content is not only fun (if only I played Phoenix Wright and knew all Japanese pop-culture references!), but provocative.

• I am still re-watching the last 12 episode of KKM, season (or series?) 2. I fear I have forgotten more Japanese than I ever learned. It's like linguistic anti-matter.

ETA(2): And I just ordered G-Defend 32 from Fujisan. Thanks for the heads up, s_vamp! This is the first manga I've ordered since our holiday. I'm probably missing the latest volumes by most of my favorite authors by now. *sadness but the joy of anticipation*
