I just bought a Windows notebook to play Sims 2. And, of course, re-purchased all the Sims games in Windows format to do so. Happy tax refund day

I cannot tell you how much I miss the halcyon days of g_defend. But I'm kind of glad you and Sara aren't summarizing anymore, just because I can't participate in the community. Reading about manga in any forum usually ends up with a reference to scanlations and downloads and copyright violation, and that drains all my joy.
Post about your Sims, even!
Eeep! I am loved! I've been reluctant to do so 'cause who would be interested, but...maybe I'll give it a try. I'm in love with my current iteration of the game and would happily babble about it.
I like the idea of Sims
We are so different (except when we're exactly the same). The idea of Sims creeps me out. Kind of like Second Life does. There are so many aspects of the community that feel a wee bit off to me, like the emphasis on self-Sims or celebrity Sims. But you should play! I don't know that the story aspect of the game would draw you in the way it has me, but I do know that creating for the game -- that is, the aesthetics of designing hair and clothing and architectural elements -- would probably be just your thing. You would create Kaito and Geoffrey Sims and put them in a Flesh & Blood neighborhood and then never actually play them because you would find the limited range of interactions in the game unsatisfying. Or else you would sex up Nigel and Christopher Marlowe. Let's do that!
I want to hear about your Sims, too! Even though I also am afraid to ever play the game because, as with WoW, I would either be baffled and frustrated by the complexity (I failed Civilization) or, more likely, I'd get addicted and be sucked down the rabbit hole, where I cannot afford to go because then I'd NEVER finish learning my kanji.
I think it's interesting to hear about how other people perceive their hobbies and think through them, even if I can't come up with anything to comment on.

Yay!
self-Sims
I dunno, I think a self-Sim would be funny if you made yourself take over the world or something. And the same with celebrities; I've seen some blogs where people made famous Sims and had them do funny stuff. But I can see how some people would be creepy and gross with it, too.

What, there's no pirate add-on?
While Sims are tempting, I would probably buy Animal Crossing first. But first I have to play the new Phoenix Wright Apollo Justice game. (If Amazon will ever send it to me, that is. Stupid Amazon.)
