To: Aiba Masami
From: Aiba Masaki
Subject: Gyoza
Kaa-san,
Thank you for the frozen gyoza that you sent. They were really delicious. Feel free to send some of your famous egg rolls next time ^_^
Love,
Masaki
P.S. Jun says thank you for the special seafood gyoza that you sent especially for him. (And none for me- your own son. But it doesn't bother me...)
…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…
"Aibaka, stop pacing a hole on the floor and just say whatever's on your mind."
Aiba stopped in his tracks and looked at Arashi's resident gamer as the younger guy sat on one of the grey couches in their greenroom. The other three members were currently at their photo shoot, leaving the other two by themselves.
"Nino, will you really listen to what I have to say?" Aiba asked him, going to sit by his side. Nino had been playing his game, but the constant stomping on the floor as Aiba paced back and forth had started to give him a headache.
With his game paused, Nino gave the other a sharp glare. "I'll give you five minutes to dump out all your problems."
"I knew you were my best friend!"Aiba cried happily, squeezing the life out of Nino's thin body.
Nino shoved Aiba off, rubbing his aching arms. "Knock it off! I'm gonna change my mind..."
"Ah, sorry!" Aiba apologized immediately. "Okay, so something happened when I went home last week. For my mom's birthday..."
One Week Ago
Aiba sighed loudly as he scooped another spoon of mabo tofu in his mouth. He had one of his rare days off from work and decided to go home to Chiba for two days for his mother's birthday.
Aiba loved his family. Really he did.
But what he didn't like was the same topic that would come up every time he came home.
"Masaki, you know how proud we all are in you and everything you do. But you're turning 33 soon, you're already an adult. I'm not saying that you should marry soon but shouldn't you start dating or going out to mingle...?" His mother suggested.
Aiba groaned at that. "Kaa-san..."
"I'm just worried about you, honey." His mother argued. "I mean, your younger brother has his own family now. You are too lovable to not have one yourself. I just don't want you to grow old one day and realize how lonely you are. Your life can turn into something incredible."
"My life is already incredible." Aiba pointed out, crossing his arms across his chest.
His mother gave him a sad smile as she reached out to caress his cheek. "Yes it is. It's more incredible than most lives people live. But it can become extraordinary when you have someone special to share it with." She told him softly.
Aiba looked away, unable to look at the eyes filled with motherly love and concern. His heart hurt at the fact that he knew he was truly worrying his mother about this. But he didn't want to date anyone.
In actuality, he was scared to go out and date again. Being an idol had its down sides- any relationship that he had could be caught and held against him. It could turn into a scandal or worst- he would disappoint his fans and end up running the risk of causing trouble to not only himself, but everyone in Arashi and even his agency as well. And what would happen if they broke up in the end...
It's happened to him before already. And he refused to let it happen again.
But he knew that his mother would worry even more if he told her that. She would never let him quit his job as an idol, but she would get gray hair and hypertension from worrying about him all the time.
He didn't know what to do-
Aiba's eyes widened as an idea hit him. He wasn't sure if it would work, but he had to try it. "Kaa-san?"
"Hmm?" His mother asked, dropping her hand from his cheek as she looked at him questioning.
"I'm gay." He announced in a clear voice. He could hear the gasps and coughs from his other family members around the table, but he kept his eyes on his mother.
His mother's eyes widened for a split second before turning back to normal as her lips curved up into a bright smile. "Ah, so that's why you were so uncomfortable whenever we brought up dating and such. Don't worry honey, I don't mind at all!"
His eyes widened in incredulity at the cheerful and relieved look on his mother's face. Wasn't most families supposed to freak out when their child tells them that they were gay?
Looking around, he saw his father giving him an understanding nod, his brother grinning at him and even his sister in law was smiling gently towards him. "Wait. You guys are fine with me being gay?" Aiba asked, shocked.
"The gender of the one you love doesn't change who you are, son." His father assured him. "You are still our child."
"We will support you always, Masaki nii-san." His sister in law told him.
"I'm not really surprised. Honestly, with all that fanservice your group does, some of it was bound to be true." His brother shrugged. Aiba really did know how to take that.
Giving his family a strange look, he turned back to his mother. She was grinning now as she spoke. "Now that you got that off your chest, who is the lucky man that you're dating?"
Aiba started to panic. He thought he would confess to being gay and although he didn't think his family would disown or anything, he had expected them to be really awkward and to drop the subject altogether.
Never in a million years did he think that they would be excited about him and his 'boyfriend'.
Looking around as he tried to think of another plan, his eyes stopped at a small clown doll that stood, smiling aimlessly on top their television.
The doll had very thick eyebrows painted on.
"Matsumoto Jun." Aiba said in a very distracted voice as he stared at the doll.
"Hm?" Aiba quickly turned towards his mother and widened his eyes as he realized what he had just slipped out. "You're dating Jun-kun?!" His mother asked, clapping happily.
"Uhh..." Aiba was unable to think coherently, horror mixing itself with panic inside as his family began talking enthusiastically about him and Jun.
Before Aiba could open his mouth to deny anything, his mother grabbed his hand and told him cheerfully, "I'm so happy for you both. Jun-kun is such a good catch! I'm so relieved that you have someone who cherishes you." Aiba's words died as he saw his mother shedding happy tears.
Feeling completely guilty inside, Aiba let out an awkward chuckle as he replied weakly, "Yeah. We're definitely in love..."
Present Time
The greenroom was quiet as Aiba finished his story. He and Nino stared at each other, not saying anything.
After a while, Nino let out a sigh. "So, is this you're coming out to me or something?"
"Nope."
The gamer raised an eyebrow. "Are you even gay?"
"Nope."
Nino blinked at that. "...So I'm assuming that you aren't dating J either?"
"Yup."
Nino sighed heavily. "And J doesn't know that he's you're gay boyfriend- well, to your family's knowledge- and you only chose him in the first place because he looked like a clown doll."
"Nope."
Nino stared. "He's gonna kill you."
"Yup."
More intense staring. "Can I have your Shonen Jump mangas when you die?"
"Nope- I'm giving them to my nephew."
Less intense staring now. "Do you want to be put in a casket or cremated in an urn?"
"Casket please. And I think a lime green one would be nice- something different."
Amusement now crept in Nino's voice. "We'll sing 'Your Eyes' at the funeral."
Everything was quiet for another minute before Aiba groaned loudly as he shook Nino's shoulders.
"You're supposed to be helping me here!" Aiba shrieked, trying to avoid the punches that Nino aimed at him to let go. "I managed to talk kaa-san out of wanting to meet up with Jun- saying that both our schedules were tight. But she still wants to see the both of us soon. She says she wants to properly be introduced to my boyfriend."
Nino furrowed his eyebrows. "Why do I feel like you're not telling me something?"
Aiba bit his lip. "Well...while I was telling my family about my 'relationship' with Jun, I might have also added that we were living together as well and I would send my mom 'lovey-dovey' pictures of me and Jun together."
Nino's jaw dropped. "Wow. Not only will you die, but you'll die suffering really slowly and painfully." He shook his head. "What are you gonna do now?"
Aiba looked at him helplessly. "Maybe I could somehow pretend to date Jun for a few weeks? Afterwords, I would carefully tell my mom that we decided that we're better off as friends and broke up."
"And then she would understand that you wouldn't want to be in another relationship for a while. Good plan." Nino complimented, looking appreciatively at his suddenly proud-looking friend. "But you told your mom that you guys were living together. Do you really think J would agree to that?" He asked, looking skeptical.
Aiba frowned as a defeated look crossed his face. "He'll definitely reject me. And not only will he never agree to me living with him but he'll never play along to being my boyfriend. Everyone knows that he's the most straightest guy ever. And he's homophobic to boot!" Aiba moaned, hanging his head in despair. "I mean, it's not like he hates gay or anything. But remember how much he scolded me and Sho-chan for that kiss we shared during VS Arashi? He said that we were showing a disgusting display to the fans."
Nino furrowed his eyebrows at that before letting out a sigh. "You're right, J will never agree to it." Crossing his arms, Nino leaned back in his seat as he thought to himself. Suddenly he sat up, smiling at Aiba. "I just thought of the perfect solution."
Aiba's eyes widened as he leaned closer to Nino. "You did?! What is it?" He asked, bouncing up and down excitedly.
"For the next few weeks, you need to act all lovey-dovey with Jun and make it seem like you both are really dating. But the thing is, you don't necessarily need to tell Jun about what you're doing or why you're doing it."
Aiba stopped bouncing as he started to look confused. "Huh? But how can we act like a couple if Jun doesn't know anything. Besides, if I cuddle up to him or whatever, I'll definitely end up being punched by him- and he wears big rings you know!" Aiba cried, flinching slightly as he remembered the last time Jun punched his arm.
Nino rolled his eyes and let out a sigh. "Idiot. There's a way to act loving with someone without making it too obvious. If you do it right, J will never suspect anything."
Aiba looked at him, his eyes hesitant with worry. "But what about the living together with him part? And my mom wants photos of us together too!"
Nino gave Aiba a serious look. "I have a plan about those too. But before anything, promise me that you'll do exactly what I tell you to do. If you don't, there's no way this plan will work, understand?"
Aiba nodded, solemnly. "Yes, I promise." Aiba had no other choice and he knew that Nino's plans mostly always work out in the end.
Nino grinned with a strange mischievous look in his eyes, his grin getting bigger as he could hear the door opening, most likely the rest of their members coming in from their shoot.
"Just leave it all to me."
…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…
"You can put your bags in the guest room, Aiba-chan. I've already started on dinner. Is seafood pasta okay with you?" Jun called out to him as they walked into Jun's living room.
"Yeah, pasta sounds great." Aiba replied absently as he looked around the apartment.
Aiba was still amazed that Jun had allowed him to stay at his house for a while. As soon as the other three members had come back from their shoot, Nino immediately put his plan into motion.
He had told them that Aiba's place had flooded and pretty much everything he owned was soaking wet. So now he was trying to find a place where he could stay at for a few weeks- just long enough for his apartment to dry properly.
With a convincing worried look on his face, Nino told them that he wouldn't be able to take Aiba in- one of his cousins was already staying over his place for a while due to exams that they had to take. Nino then smartly pointed out that Sho still lived with his parents and his room was also a pigsty- so there was definitely no space for Aiba there. And pretty much none of them (except Jun) has even Ohno's house before, so that was a no go.
Nino turned to Jun and whispered loudly so even the others could hear him, "I told Aiba-chan that he should ask you if he could stay over, but now that I think of it, maybe he shouldn't. I mean, a pompous diva like you with you're hormonal mood swings and girly sensitivity would never be able to handle being around someone for a few weeks." Nino smirked looking at Jun in a challenging way, knowing that he pressed the right buttons.
And of course, Jun took the bait as he immediately invited (well, pretty much ordered) Aiba that he would stay over his place and after the shoot they would go over to Aiba's to get his stuff. Nino had cut in and informed Jun that Aiba had invited him to help with his stuff (well, bribed him with games to help anyway) so Jun might as well go home and ready his guest room.
After that, everything pretty much passed by in a blur for Aiba as he suddenly found himself living in Jun's apartment, a plate of pasta set in front of him by Jun.
"Are you okay, Aiba?" Jun asked as he took a seat in front of him.
Aiba blinked as he shook his head, smiling at their youngest member. "Yeah, I'm just worried about my apartment is all. You didn't have to let me stay, you know." He repeated to him again, not wanting to be a bother to his youngest member.
Jun smiled as he assured, "You're welcome to stay. In fact, I should be asking if you're okay with having to live with a pompous diva like me for the next few weeks?" He asked, teasingly.
Aiba smiled, looking at Jun warmly. "I guess I'll just have to deal with it." They both chuckled and began to digging into their meal.
Of course the food was amazing and they spent the rest of the meal talking about their day and other random things. Aiba was pleasantly surprised about how relaxing and laid back Jun could be at home compared to his work self. He knew pretty much everything about Jun (they have been members for many years now) but it was very rare for him to see how Jun was in private.
He really liked this type of Jun.
After dinner, they went to their respective rooms for the night. Aiba was staying in Jun's guest room which was at the end of the hall.
Following Nino's instructions, Aiba didn't go immediately to sleep. Instead, he stayed awake long enough until he was sure that Jun had to be sleeping already. When he was sure, he crept outside his room and carefully made his way to Jun's room, holding his breath as he opened the door and slowly sneaked inside.
Looking around the room, Aiba noted that it looked like any normal male bachelor's room. He spotted Jun asleep in his large bed with black satin sheets. To his right, Aiba was amused to see some bookshelves filled with rows of manga. Glancing at some of the titles, Aiba tiptoed to Jun's closet (he had always been curious about it) and his jaw dropped when he realized that it was a walk-in closet with shelves, drawers and rows filled with various clothes and accessories.
Shaking his head, Aiba remembered his reason for being there and quietly made his way to the bed. Nino told him that the best way to get lovey-dovey photos of him and Jun was when they were together in bed- that would scream 'lovers' (and since these were photos to his mother, of course they wouldn't be nude or after-sex photos). And the best part was, Jun didn't even have to be awake during it.
Trying not to jostle Jun as he lifted up the blankets and slid beside him, Aiba took out his phone from his pocket and set it to camera. Jun was on his side facing him so Aiba placed his face next to Jun's slightly snoring one and quickly took a few shots.
Aiba couldn't help but feel like a pervert as he continued to take more shots of himself and Jun- positioning Jun this way and that so he was pretty much wrapped around Aiba.
When Aiba decided he had enough shots, he carefully moved out of the bed and tucked Jun back into his sheets. As he made his way to the door, Aiba froze at the sound of a small moan and a few ruffling from the bedsheets.
Quickly looking at the sleeping man, his heart was beating fast as Jun started to twist in his bed, his forehead started to wrinkle. Aiba stared at him for a few more tense seconds before Jun let out a sigh, still sleeping as he positioned himself into a somewhat fetal position and began breathing evenly once more. Letting out an almost silent sigh of relief, Aiba quickly exited Jun's room.
Back in his own room, Aiba jumped onto his bed and groaned. "How the hell will I be able to do this?"
…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…
It had been a little over a month since Aiba had stayed in Jun's house. Contrary to what others would think, Aiba and Jun actually made very good roommates.
They were both the clean type (though Aiba did like to experiment sometimes when he was in the kitchen, which would sometimes results in a mess) and they always took into consideration for each other's hectic schedules (they would keep the house quiet if the other was working on something or they would cook or buy dinner if the other was coming home late). Of course they would get into small arguments at times as well, but it never lasted long since Aiba was the type to forgive easily and to Aiba's surprise and joy, Jun could never really stay mad at him for too long- he would either accept Aiba's apology or make his own (though a bit grudgingly).
What Aiba enjoyed the most while staying at Jun's house was just the younger man's company. He never made Aiba feel unwelcome and they always had many topics of conversation each day- even a simple 'welcome home' or 'I'm back' from Jun filled Aiba with much happiness.
"Maybe I should have gotten a roommate sooner." Aiba commented as he laid back onto the sofa next to Nino, munching on some snacks that the staff laid out for them. They were at another photo shoot with the other three members doing their individual shoots first- once again leaving the two best friends alone together.
"So the plan's going well, huh?" Nino replied, pausing his game as he turned to Aiba.
Aiba nodded, smiling happily. "Jun is so great! Yesterday when I made dinner, I accidentally burned the pork. But he still ate it with no complaints and even commented that it was still really good. Living with someone is great!"
Nino hummed as he grabbed a chip from Aiba's hands and put it in his mouth. "Maybe it's the fact that it's Jun that you're living with that you like it?" He pointed out.
Aiba thought about it. "Well, Jun-kun is just so great! I don't mean to repeat myself, but it's just that I'm so surprised how different work Jun is to home Jun. It's not like there's anything wrong with work Jun, but it feels like he lets down all his barriers when he's at home and I'm pretty lucky to be one of the few people that get to see it." He admitted, feeling proud.
Nino raised his eyebrow as he chewed on a piece of gummy candy. "You sound like you're head over heels in love with J."
Aiba let out a loud laugh, shaking his head. "That's impossible. I'm not gay."
"You don't have to be gay. Maybe Jun's special?" Nino pointed out.
Aiba frowned. "But I'm not attracted to him in that way."
Nino gave him a look. "Are you sure?" Aiba wrinkled his forehead as he nodded his head, though uncertainly.
Following Nino's plan, Aiba had inconspicuously stuck himself to Jun most of the time. Whenever they were filming together, it was rare to see one without the other. Aiba would sneak in little touches and would occasionally wrapped his arm lightly around Jun- making it seem like they were close friends (they were) or something more (they were not). Aiba of course used this to his advantage and would take selfies in a jokingly, friendly matter and later on, would send them to his mother (she always sent Aiba a super ecstatic text or email saying that they should visit her soon).
Aiba was smug to point out that Jun totally didn't notice his touchy-feeliness, probably just thinking that his member was friendly to everyone and didn't see anything strange with his behavior. Jun himself would also wrap his arm or sit close with Aiba at times too.
In the beginning Aiba was completely fine was these interactions, but during the last few weeks, Aiba was confused whenever he felt his heart beat a little bit faster or when he suddenly found it a bit hard too hard to breathe whenever Jun was a little too close to him. He mentioned this Nino but the younger man just waved him off and said it was nothing.
One time, Aiba was watching TV in the living room and a freshly showered Jun had walked out of the bathroom with nothing but a white towel on. He told Aiba that he needed to call someone and had left his phone on top of the coffee table in front of Aiba.
When Jun had leaned over Aiba to get his phone, Aiba couldn't help but get a whiff of Jun' s cucumber and melon shampoo...he smelled really good, Aiba had thought. He suddenly found his eyes shifting over Jun's muscular but dripping wet torso, his eyes then folllowing a water drop that slid down the nicely-shaped chest on onto the thin hair on Jun's stomach that trailed lower until it met the towel...his eyes lowered even more as he looked a bit closer at the towel that was tied to Jun's hips...he could see the outline of Jun's thighs through the towel, he realized...
"Aiba-chan, are you alright?" Aiba choked, blinking rapidly as he looked up at Jun's face, feeling flustered. Jun was looking down worriedly at him, his phone in his hand. "Are you not feeling well? You're face is flushed."
Aiba coughed a little, mortified at his thoughts while he was looking- no, checking Jun out. "I'm fine, really. It's probably just the heat in here." Aiba lied, fanning himself as he could feel his cheeks burn up into flames. He felt nothing but disgust- not at Jun's body, but at how perverted his thoughts on his group member were.
Jun smiled at him, worry still evident in his expression, but he decided to drop the topic. "Make sure you turn on the fan, okay?" He left Aiba with a dazzling bright smile as he left to get changed.
Aiba gave him an awkward smile in return, mentally arranging his schedule to add in an appointment with his doctor- after seeing Jun's smile, he was suddenly having trouble breathing again. Maybe he was having a pneumothorax attack again?
Aiba sighed as he took a sip of his water, giving Nino a side glance. "I'm not attracted to Jun that way. I'm definitely not gay, okay?"
Nino frowned at him even more before letting out a sigh of his own as he gave Aiba a little smirk. "You're not gay, but you have a boyfriend." He pointed out.
Aiba grinned as he replied cheekily. "Yup. But it doesn't count since he doesn't know about it." Both of them exchanged some laughs before Jun and Ohno joined them inside the room. Sho was still taking a few more shots.
"What are you two laughing about?" Jun questioned as he sat on his spot next to Aiba- a spot that Jun adopted to sitting at since they had moved in together.
"Aiba told me about that dinner he ruined last night." Nino answered him, making room for Ohno to lay beside him and take his usual nap.
"It really did taste great." Jun reassured Aiba, making the other man smile happily.
"Yeah! I'm happy you liked it." Aiba chirped, grinning even more at him as he gave Jun a bear hug. Aiba bit his lip as he could feel his heart beating rapidly again.
Just as he was about to let go of Jun, Nino's voice sounded. "Ah...actually I got a new camera app on my phone. Can I take a picture of you guys so I can test it out?" He asked, waving his phone at them.
Aiba wanted to decline but held his words in as Jun shrugged, agreeing to pose. Aiba held his breath as he felt Jun wrap his arms around his waist and put their faces together, smiling at Nino's phone. "Aiba-shi, you need to smile too." Nino pointed out, his face full of amusement. Aiba gulped as he forced the ends of his mouth to lift.
*CLICK* "Okay, thanks guys." Nino said, playing around with his phone to add effects to the photo.
Jun let go of the red Aiba and turned to him, his face turning into worry. "Are you okay? You're face is really red, Masaki." Jun asked, calling him by Aiba's first name like he always did since they moved in together. Aiba really like the sound of his name coming from Jun's lips.
Aiba shook his head, the feeling of wanting to die suddenly coming up in his mind. "Ah, maybe I'm coming down with a fever." He replied weakly. He then gasped loudly as Jun reached down to touch his forehead with his own.
"You are feeling a bit warm. Do you want some medicine- I have some with me?" Jun suggested, furrowing his eyebrows as he left to get his bag.
Aiba closed his eyes, leaning against the couch. That was the closest he's ever been to Jun's face- close enough to see every imperfection, every pimple, every scar...every inch of that smooth skin...
Aiba was definitely going to have to make another doctor's appointment soon. His heart and his lungs were starting to hurt again.
There was no way he was gay and he was definitely not attracted to Jun.
…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…
Quietly closing the door, Aiba once again tiptoed across the now familiar room and slid into Jun's very soft bed.
His mom really liked the sleepy pictures he sent and not wanting to disappoint her, Aiba would often sneak into Jun's room and steal a few photos.
As Aiba snapped yet another photo of them, his eyes suddenly widened as Jun let out a yawn and wrapped his arms around Aiba, snuggling closer as his soft snores started again.
His mind going into panic mode, Aiba tried to escape Jun's arms, but with the tight hold around him, Aiba knew there was no way that he could move without waking Jun up first. Aiba sighed as he carefully slipped his phone back into his pocket and rested more comfortably on the bed, trying not to move Jun too much. There was no other choice for him than to wait until Jun moved away so he could make his escape (Aiba knew Jun's sleeping habits and knew that his youngest member usually moved around the bed a lot- making easier for him to move into whatever position that Aiba wanted when taking photos).
Shifting to his side, Aiba stared at Jun. Jun really was very handsome- of course since he was known for being the best looking in their group. Being in Jun's arms was very warm, but instead of feeling suffocating, Aiba felt nice and cozy. Staring at what Aiba thought was a cute mole on the side of Jun's neck, he felt his eyelids slowly become heavy as they started to close.
'I'll just sleep for five minutes and then I'll wake up and try to leave again.' Aiba thought to himself, as he drifted off to dreamland...
"...ba....Ai...Aiba..." Aiba yawned as he slowly opened his eyes, his mind still on the big tempura bowl that had been chasing him in his dream. His thoughts started to become a jumbled mess as he realized that he was faced-to-faced with a now awake Jun who was staring at him with wide, confused eyes.
Aiba couldn't help but take in the look of the guy in front of him. Jun's usually slicked back hair was now in a messy tangle with a trail of dried up drool on the side of his lips and his face was still a little puffy with sleep. But Aiba couldn't help but think that Jun never looked better to him than he did right now.
'I really like him'. Aiba thought with a start. He felt his heart thump so loudly that he swore that he could hear it with his ears. Wait, but he wasn't gay. He didn't like guys. He liked girls. He didn't like dick. He liked boobs...
'I really really like him'. Aiba choked as he realized that he couldn't even think to himself that he didn't like Jun in that way. Maybe it was because he had just woke up and his mind wasn't strong enough to lie yet but...he liked Jun. In that way. It was easier for him to admit that he liked Jun than it was to lie that he didn't like Jun.
But damn, why did Aiba have to realize it at the same moment when he was caught red-handed in the guy's bed? And sometime in the middle of the night, Aiba ended up having his arms wrapped around Jun instead.
They both stared at each other wordlessly, neither of them able to speak up first. Aiba sighed as he tightened his hold around Jun's waist for a second before letting go. He knew what he had to do.
"I lied. There was no flood in my house." Aiba whispered, staring Jun straight into his face. Jun's eyes widened as Aiba's own eyes started to mist. Blinking the tears that were threatening to fall down, Aiba gave Jun a small smile, his heart feeling like it would break with his next words.
"I'm sorry for lying Jun-kun. I'm moving out today. Thank you for putting up with me, ne?"
…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…~…
"You look like shit." Nino observed, taking a sip of his coffee.
"I love you too." Aiba mumbled, snuggling closer to one of the pillows that was on the couch. 'Aren't those three always together?' Aiba thought, irritated. He and Nino were once again alone as the other three were out doing their interviews for some sort of segment on a news show.
"No, you love J." Nino pointed out smugly, leaning down on the sofa next to Aiba.
"How are you my best friend again?!" Aiba whined, hitting Nino with his pillow, making Nino almost drop his cup.
After his confessing to his lie, Aiba immediately left Jun's house and went to the park, making a call to his manager to cancel his morning appointments since he knew that he wouldn't be able to make them. Sitting on one of the park benches, Aiba sighed as he thought about what to do now.
As soon as he accepted the fact that he liked Jun in that way (and probably had for a while) he just couldn't keep lying to the younger man anymore. He also felt completely horrible that he had pretty much used Jun for his own selfishness- he felt tears dropping down his face at the thought of that. Not wanting to face the fury that he knew Jun would have at being lied to, Aiba immediately knew that he would have to move out as soon as possible.
Not having an appetite for breakfast, Aiba sat at that park for another two hours (making a call to Nino to inform the other about the failed plan and explained everything that happened) until he knew that Jun had left the house for work. Aiba and Jun pretty much knew each other's schedules since living together.
Making his way back to the empty house, Aiba immediately gathered all his things, pausing a bit in front of Jun's room before leaving his house key (Jun had given it on his second day there when he had waited at the outside of the door for Jun to come home) and leaving the house altogether.
Dropping his things at his own place, Aiba cried on his bed for a few more hours before knowing that he had to get up for an interview that was scheduled for that afternoon. Even if he screwed his relationship with Jun, there was no way he wanted to let down the rest of his members by skipping out on more work.
Knowing that Jun would be there, Aiba immediately avoided the man, choosing to stray near the other rooms until it was his turn to film. He would then leave right after it was done.
"You look like you had a nightmare." Nino pointed out to him, emptying his coffee mug and placing it on the table.
"I actually slept better last night than I probably ever had in a while." Aiba muttered, his cheeks blushing at Nino's laugh.
"Wow, you really are in love with emperor J." Nino snorted.
Aiba shook his head. "I only like Jun- I'm not in love with him." He corrected.
Nino gave him an 'Are you serious?' look. "Come on, Aiba-chan. I know that you're not as stupid as you come off to be at times. You talk about him constantly, you get turned on when you look at him and you made like god knows how many doctor appointments whenever you felt like your lungs would burst from Jun smiling at you. That's love idiot." He rolled his eyes. "And you've been in love with him for a while now."
Aiba looked at him with wide eyes as he realized the truth in his best friend's words. "Oh my god...I really am in love with Jun?"
Nino smirked at the dumbfounded look on his face. "Finally got that through you're coconut of a head, huh? So what are you gonna do now?"
Aiba babbled incoherently, his mind panicked. "What do you mean what I'll do? I'm not gonna do anything! Jun probably hates me for lying to him and being a total nuisance in his home for the last month. And he's straight Nino! He won't like being confessed to by another guy- especially to a guy like me!" He told Nino vehemently.
Nino narrowed his eyes. "There's something else, isn't there? The reason why you don't want to confess your feelings. You're usually the bubbly type who's pretty much an open book to everyone and shows his feelings on his sleeve. What's wrong Masaki- why can't you take the chance and tell Jun about how you really feel about him?" When Nino looked at him with those serious dark eyes of his and used his first name like that, Aiba knew that he couldn't help but tell Nino the truth.
"I'm scared." Aiba confessed, feeling as small as an ant at that moment.
Nino eyes widened incredulously. "Excuse me?"
"I'm scared, okay?" Aiba repeated, standing up and he started to pace back and forth. "I'm afraid of what this will do to our relationship. Since Jun's definitely gonna turn me down, there'll always gonna be an awkwardness between us. And then that'll definitely gonna affect our group and work as well." He said, stomping hard on the floor.
"What if he doesn't reject you? What if he loves you back?" Nino pressed, getting up as well.
Aiba let out a hard laugh, crossing his arms as his eyes began to water. "Even if by some miracle or alternate reality that happens, what if we break up? What if the media finds out about us and we cause a scandal? I don't want to trouble you all with something stupid that I did. I don't want to be a problem to you all!"
Nino looked at him, suddenly understanding what was going on. "You're afraid of the unknown. But you don't know if any of that stuff will happen."
"You don't know if it won't happen one day." Aiba countered, pausing in front of the shorter man.
Leaning up to clap his hand on Aiba's shoulder, Nino told him. "No I don't. But don't you think Jun should know about how you feel about him? Don't you think he would appreciate knowing the truth?"
"No." Aiba told him flatly. Letting out a shaky sigh, Aiba added. "I've been through scandals before...I don't want to cause anyone else, especially Jun, any more trouble."
"You're not troubling us." Nino assured him. "We are idols and are famous nationwide and loved by many. But it does come with a price. We all know that price though and will pay it, if need be." He gave Aiba a sad smile. "And for you Aiba-shi, any one of us Arashi members will definitely pay that price, in a heart beat. Just like when we had scandals of our own, we know that you will stand by us as well. Don't worry- we'll always be behind you, one hundred percent."
Aiba started crying at Nino's words, hearing the truth in them and since he knew that Nino was far from being the compassionate martyr type, he knew that Nino really did care about Aiba and was truly his best friend. "I'll might cause problems to you all." He insisted weakly.
Nino chuckled as he sat the both of them back on the sofa. "You cause problems on a daily basis anyway- what's more added?" He teased. "But really, what if you two ended up working out in the end? I think you two match very well together. You guys can make it."
"I don't know..." Aiba trailed off, unsure of what to do.
"I won't tell you what to do, but I will say this. The Aiba I know will never intentionally hurt anybody. But I know that if you keep your feelings to yourself and never tell Jun, you'll only be hurting yourself, which will hurt our group since we care about you. And in the end, you will still be lying to Jun." Nino pointed out to him. At Aiba's horrified look at that, Nino smiled. "Masaki...Don't let the fear of screwing up, keep you from falling in love."
At that last comment, both Nino and Aiba looked at each other in silence for a few seconds before bursting into laughter. "That last line was really cheesy." Aiba laughed, wiping the tears from his face.
Nino laughed as well, grinning. "It was like a drama or something." He guffawed loudly as he thought about how lame he probably sounded then. But it was worth it to see his best friend's smile again.
Aiba, feeling much better as he looked at Nino, gave Nino a big hug as he whispered into the other's ear. "I love you Nino-chan. You're my bestest friend in the whole world!"
Nino snorted. "You shouldn't be confessing your love to me, idiot. But I love you too and I still can't believe that I have such a baka for a best friend." He sighed, but wrapped his arms around Aiba to return the hug.
They both froze at the sound of the door opening. Aiba and Nino looked wide-eyed at the surprised looks on Jun, Ohno and Sho's faces. Jun in particular didn't look very thrilled as his eyes zeroed in on Aiba and Nino's arms that were still wrapped around each other in an overly-friendly manner.
"Did we walk in on something we shouldn't have?" Sho joked, trying to break the tension that was suddenly evident in the room.
Aiba quickly realized where his arms were and let go of Nino. Facing Jun, Aiba took a deep breath as he walked towards the youngest member. Repeating Nino's encouragement and reassurances in his mind, Aiba decided to take the plunge as he opened his mouth to say in a loud but clear voice, "I love you, Jun."
All four of the other members jaws dropped at the sudden confession. "You don't waste time, do you?" Nino muttered, looking at Aiba, impressed.
"A love triangle?" Ohno questioned, looking at Aiba, Jun and Nino in confusion.
"Of course not." Sho assured their leader.
"Besides, we all know that J doesn't share well." Nino added, staring at said man who was standing completely still.
Jun stared at Aiba with his dark eyes, not saying anything. Building up courage, Aiba took another deep breath as he looked at Jun. "I love you, Jun. I'm not gay, well, maybe I am. But I don't think so since I know I still like girls and I don't like really guys but despite all that, I really love you." He was speaking too fast.
"This is a weird confession." Ohno mumbled, looking at the scene, interested.
"What did you guys expect? This is Aiba we're talking about." Nino snorted, looking at the two members with amused eyes.
"Guys, shh!" Sho shushed at them. Sho grabbed Ohno and went to the couch to join Nino, giving Jun and Aiba some personal space near the closed door.
Aiba was ignoring the other three, his attention solely on the man he loved. Not letting Jun's silence bother him, he continued to say, "I'm also surprised about how much I love you. I mean, you're not really the nicest person in the world, you know. Since living with you, you can act like a pompous diva at times like Nino says. And you're very touchy if you see that someone moved your things- even if it was your phone on the coffee table that was shifted slightly at a different angle. And at home, you're far from the fashionable MatsuJun that everyone sees you as on TV- come on, worn jogging pants with a cheetah-print shirt that has some holes on the back with wooly socks and those overly large glasses you have? Really?
"Ah! But I think it's cute on you- especially that time when you wore it while you were sick and got snot running down your nose. What I'm saying is that I really love you despite all your bad traits- I may even love you because of them! I love you when you act all Dos and slap me on the head (though not when you're wearing those big rings). I love you even when you decide on what's for dinner- despite me telling you that I hate bitter melon. I love you Jun-chan, even when you let out those very loud wet farts in your sleep after eating that edamame dip you like so much, I still....well maybe I love you a little less then because those farts really can be use as their own nuclear bomb...but I still love you all the same!" Aiba panted, hoping that he got his point across. To his left, he could hear laughter coming from his other members.
"Wow, how can you say no to a love confession like that, huh?" Nino commented lightly, biting his lip to prevent the laughter that wanted to burst out- though he was unsuccessful as giggles would escape him. Sho also unsuccessfully tried not to laugh while Ohno lost the battle and was laughing hysterically, facing away from all of them.
Jun was still quiet, though there was a small smile on his quite red face. Aiba couldn't tell the emotions that Jun was feeling- he looked embarrassed, mad, mortified but a bit happy? "Jun?" Aiba asked nervously.
Jun stared at him for another minute before letting out a deep sigh. Sending a threatening glare at the other members (which managed to shut them up) he looked back at Aiba. "I don't whether to slap you, punch you, strangle you, castrate you or kiss you." Aiba brightened at the last words.
"Well, whatever you choose would be very entertaining to watch, all the same." Nino assured him. Jun rolled his eyes as he let out a frustrated growl, grabbing Aiba's wrist and dragging him outside, ignoring the yells of disappointment from the other members. "Oh yeah, go choose the boring option!" Nino shouted after them as the door was shut close behind them.
There wasn't anyone in the hallway, leaving Aiba and Jun to finally be alone together. Aiba looked at Jun, unsure of what to do at that moment. "Um, Jun?" The younger man looked at him after he hesitated. "So are you okay with me loving you?"
As soon as those words left Aiba's lips, his lips were suddenly busy as they were moving furiously against Jun's, his whole body shoved up against the door as he felt Jun's hands moving all over his body. He stood there, still for about five seconds before quickly moving against Jun's lips, returning the kiss as he allowed Jun access into his mouth, his tongue also wanting to taste more of Jun and doing a bit of wrestling of its own. He let out a moan as Jun's hands roamed around around his stomach and bottom, their fronts grinding against each other. Aiba lifted his own hands and enthusiastically let them sink into Jun's hair, feeling just as soft as he imagined it to be.
"Um, guys? We can hear you." Ohno's hesitant voice sounded through the door. Aiba and Jun pulled away from each other, both of their faces flushed with a rosy red color and panting heavily.
"Oh-chan! Why did you have to say that? They've completely stopped now!" A put out Nino whined from the inside of the room.
"Nino! We shouldn't be spying on them. And besides they were doing that in a public hallway- what if someone walking by sees them!" Sho scolded. The sound of Nino's grumbles were muffled through the door.
Aiba and Jun looked at each other, suddenly feeling bashful at the whole thing. Smoothing down Jun's hazardous hair that was totally a mess now due to him, Aiba smiled widely at him. "So I'm going assume that you're okay with me loving you or did I totally misunderstand?"
Jun chuckled as he leaned down to give Aiba a short peck on his lips, grinning brightly at him. "I'm more than okay. I'm not really gay either, but I really love you too, Masaki. I have for a long time now." Jun confessed, resting his hands on Aiba's waist.
"You have? Seriously? You mean I've been worrying and crying this whole time for nothing?!" Aiba cried in shock, looking in disbelief as he laid his hands on Jun's chest (his firm chest really felt so good- much better than any pair of jiggly boobs out there).
"You were crying?" Jun asked softly, giving him a soft kiss in apology.
Aiba blushed. "Well, not a lot. I mean, I was really sad about moving out this morning. Wait, can I crash at your place again?" He asked, looking up hopefully. He had gotten so used to living with Jun, he really didn't want to be alone anymore.
"Only if you move out of your apartment and move in with me permanently." Jun told him. Aiba let out a whoop of happiness as he gave Jun a passionate kiss. Breaking apart, Jun asked him, "So can you explain to me now what exactly happened this morning and how you ended up in my bed in the first place?"
Aiba proceeded to explain Jun about everything from the start- about how he told his family that he was gay and that Jun was his boyfriend (he decided to leave out the part about how he only chose Jun because of a clown doll that resembled him) and that he promised his mom some pictures of their 'relationship'. Aiba confessed that at first, all the touches and closeness between them during that time were all planned. But as time went on, Aiba started to feel something more towards Jun.
"So you snuck into my room every night to take photos of you and I and you sent them to your mom?" Jun repeated, looking shocked and a bit mortified at that.
Aiba winced as he hung his head in shame. "I know how creepy that sounds and I'm so sorry. But I only did it like, five times a week...and I definitely stayed away whenever you had that edamame dip. I stayed far away during those times." Aiba assured him.
Jun choked, a red blush appearing on his face. "Yeah, please don't remind me of that. I'm definitely gonna boycott the edamame dip from now on." Jun muttered, humiliated.
Aiba smiled, still riding on a high. He couldn't believe that he and Jun were mutually in love with each other and now they were gonna live together- as real boyfriends this time. "So how long were you in love with me?" Aiba questioned, looking curious.
Jun shrugged, grinning sheepishly. "Ever since you and Sho shared that kiss on VS Arashi. I felt so mad during that shoot and didn't know why until Nino pointed out to me that I was just jealous that someone else kissed you." He told Aiba.
Aiba nodded at that. "I thought you were homophobic because of how you kept saying that me and Sho were disgusting. So you were just jealous, huh?" Aiba and Jun exchanged grins. Suddenly Aiba thought about something. "Wait a minute. Nino was the one who told you that what you were feeling was jealousy?"
Jun nodded. "Yes. In fact, he's the one who helped me realize that I was in love with you and suggested that I should just keep my feelings to myself for now- he thought that I would probably scare you off if I didn't wait for just the right moment. And I guess he was right." Jun smiled, leaning in for another kiss but Aiba placed his hand on Jun's lips, stopping him.
Aiba frowned. "Hold on. Right at the beginning, I told Nino all about what happened with my family and asked for his advice. He was the one who actually thought of the plan about me moving in with you and how to get those photos. When I was freaking about what happened this morning, Nino was also the one to calm me down and help me realize that I was in love with you. He told me that I should just take the chance and confess my feelings." Aiba explained to Jun seriously.
They both looked at each other, the pieces to the puzzle falling into place as they both turned towards the closed door and shouted out simultaneously, "NINO!"
"You're welcome!" Nino shouted back, mischievousness evident in his voice as he sounded entirely pleased with himself. "As thanks, you can get me that new Mario game that is coming out soon!" He sung out.
Aiba narrowed his eyes at the door. "So all that time when I was telling you about my Jun problems, you knew that Jun loved me back but even then you still didn't think of informing me about it?" He demanded, feeling angry and a bit hurt.
Nino snorted. "And would you have believed me if I had?" Aiba froze, knowing that Nino was right- he never would have believed him. Taking his silence as a yes, Nino humphed in triumph. "See? You wouldn't have. At least my plan ended up exactly as I thought it would. Now we have a happy couple in Arashi that consists of emperor J and Aibaka. Like I said again, you're welcome and Mario game, please."
Aiba sighed, cuddling closer in Jun's arms, all anger and hurt leaving him. "You're right, Nino-chan. I'm really thankful." He smiled. "I'll definitely get you that game. You deserve it."
Nino cheered. "Yosh! And since you guys must be feeling pretty generous right now, can you also get me one of those silver glass aroma candles? I accidentally broke Sho's one but they're pretty expensive to replace." He added, with no remorse in his voice whatsoever.
"You did what?!" Sho shrieked. "That was my favorite candle, you brat!"
"Can I get a boat?" Ohno asked, sounding hopeful.
"Of course you can't leader- you didn't even do anything. And quit hitting me Sho- Aiba and Jun will get you a new one!" Nino yelled.
Aiba and Jun ended up laughing, shaking their heads at the antics of their group members. Deciding to go back inside to keep Sho from killing Nino and to gently tell Ohno that they couldn't afford to buy him a boat, Aiba and Jun shared one more sweet kiss before smiling happily at each other, opening the door.
