Fussy Futon Fracas

Alliteration people!

God, I'm blogging waaaay too much lately. Maybe it's because I've got nothing going on. The big activity today was figuring out whether to blow $500 bucks at Futon Factory, Matress Mart, or American Matress, the only purveyors of *quality* futons and futon lifestyle items in town. I picked Matress Mart, since they had the least complicated, dark-wood-varnished type futon that wasn't $400 just for the frame. It came with a lifetime warranty. I sprung (absolutely NO pun intended, jerks) for the extra-nice matress. I figure if you're going to make someone sleep on a futon when they come to visit you, they ought to not to have to sleep on something that feels like the equivalent of oatmeal in a sack. I even got one of the guys to deliver it all (unassembled) to my house for like 20 bucks under the table. Another thing played into my purchase. The employees at Matress Mart were not douchy sales types, but regular dudes sitting around the store with sweat stains on their shirts talking about beer and how tired they were. As I was handing the dude my credit card I felt the need to clarify the wording on the garantee:

Me: There's a lifetime warranty, right?

Guy: Yep.

Me: And that last until...

Guy: Until you die. Until you're dead.

Me: Oh, me...Not the futon.

Guy: ...

This actually happend people...Isn't that great?!?

Beyond scintillating futon happenings, not much is new. Here's what I had for dinner:

Eggplant sandwich--Grilled garlicy eggplant, soy mozzerella, light mayonaise. Yogurt cheese, multigrain wheathins.

God, my diet makes me seem like such a disgusting yuppy. I really do like that stuff! Except the soy cheese. That was an experiment. It was only good because everything else in the sandwhich was good.

I feel a carnivorous plant buying spree coming on. All this humid weather is making me think about neat things to do with the birdbath outside my apartment. Right now dandelions are growing in it. I could so easily make it into a mini bog garden. I already have some really weird american pitcher plant seeds I ordered a few months ago from Ebay; I never got the chance to try to germinate them w/the move and all. Oh man, there is so much room in this apartment for weird plants! Joy!

Tomorrow: More unpacking. I'm SURE I'll blog about it.
