It’s a comical look, as some sauce dribbles out of and stains the corner of his half-open mouth.

Heungsoo watching Namsoon eat, stealing a few sips of water out of Namsoon’s paper cup when he thinks Namsoon won’t see him.
But it’s not that Namsoon can’t see him. It’s that Namsoon doesn’t really understand how or why he feels weirdly comfortable with Heungsoo, even though he he’s reserved around him at the same time. So he tries to ignore everything, including the way that his stomach sorts of flops around when he sees Heungsoo okay stop me I should stop now um…

are you trying to single-handedly destroy my high school education?
Oh; so is this in Seungri High School? After the whole leg thing and the three years separation? (Unless that never happened?)

Namsoon almost closes the door in Heungsoo’s face until Heungsoo wedges his foot in the doorway, squeezing his way into Namsoon’s life at the last minute, the same way that he always has.
SOBS HE SEEMS LIKE SUCH A CAREFREE KID ;AAAA; I love how here, Heungsoo is characterised as a clingy, whiny sort of guy, who doesn’t have the burdens of childhood or home life weighing down on him. And for once, he’s allowed to just let go and to worry about things a normal kid (or well, they’re adults now, so…) is supposed to; like whether or not he should sleep during class or if he can be bothered to do homework or not. Okay I have no idea what I’m saying rn

Instead, he slips a note in the crack between the door
Coward. WHY COULD YOU NOT SAY IT TO HIS FACE LIKE COME ON NOWWWW 8(((((((

And in case Namsoon doesn’t get it, and in Heungsoo’s experience he often doesn’t, Heungsoo leaves a tiny, penciled whisper on the back of the paper.
Because Namsoon never does ever get it. He’s never, ever understood anything to do with feelings because he’s so dense and Heungsoo’s dense but Namsoon is even worse and excuse me whilst I cry bc losers ;a;

I never would’ve been able to meet you.”
Pretty sure that Heungsoo planned out all of your meetings and your lives in general. Yep. And he imagined you getting married because he loves you and you love him yep what a perfect couple tbh time to cry ;AAAAAAAAAAAAAA;

It takes Namsoon a moment to think, and Heungsoo picks up the answer. “Yes,” he affirms, looking over at Namsoon, who is smiling at the woman. “If I had the chance, I would do everything the same way, all over again.”
Sobs because Heungsoo has always been the one to step up first; to figure out what he wants.

And in his last moments, Namsoon can close his eyes and remember what it was like.
And this is so nice because after everything, the last thing that Namsoon thinks about is Heungsoo and UGH I JUST - FEEEEEEEELS yes this is very nice; how we see the beginning of their relationship, up until the very last point. And it’s not that their relationship; their friendship; ends over time because they’ve grown apart; but rather, they’ve lived the last moments with each other and that is how it ends.

I like the way that Heungsoo was characterised here, because whilst he was so childish, with his lame jokes and his abruptness, fully putting himself out there to become Namsoon’s friend and someone so much more, he was still so clearly, the hyung. It’s like he wants to be Namsoon’s hyung, someone for Namsoon to depend on (because we don’t see much of Namsoon the iljjang here, unless this is an AU where the gang doesn’t exist) and in a way, Heungsoo is Namsoon’s everything because he’s his best friend, his first (and last) love and his family.

And what’s weird is that he really is Namsoon’s everything and he had forced his way into Namsoon’s life just because that is who Heungsoo is. And there was no knowing where they were going; whether or not they’d become best friends, or something more or maybe even something less. Maybe they’d be casual friends who weren’t even friends and were just acquaintances who said hi and bye every now and then, who’d ask about homework, or any other random things that people would ask about, but they’d never make it further. There was always that chance.

But Heungsoo, as spontaneous and reckless as he was, was always someone that Namsoon could depend on; someone that Namsoon could fall back on (yes, yes do you see this nice reference to the title yep) and as childish as he was, he was always someone who Namsoon could see as an older brother. (and then he turned into something more 8DDDDD ahahaha)
