Lucifer is appearing like he did 5.22 as sign how close he is to Sam. But both angels view Sam from their perspective as angels, seeing the colours of his soul, which makes hating the rival difficult. Right now they are watching Sam from afar, fearing his decision and what they could lose: his love or a brother.
