Thor: The Dark World (mostly spoiler-free)

First of all: YES!
I have seen Thor: TDW already and it is glorious.

It had be, I paid a lot of money to see it in english. Germans are usually the gods at synchronization, but they fail to get Loki right. Yeah, no surprise at that, but still ...

Can I tell you again, how much I loved it?

The only critic I have read, told there would be a lot of action and effects. I may see where regular movie watchers are coming from, but please this is Marvel. The film effects are finally good enough for the story they are telling and I noticed that they used them well. Last time 3D was something special, now the filmmakers know that simple 3D isn't enough anymore. So we got beautiful images instead, no matter how sad they are (no, I'm not giving spoilers.)

We say daily life of Asgard. Feast, hunts, training, the prisons etc. It was beautiful.

Just as the rest of the movie. I think we really got the watch the longterm effects of Odins rule. It was nice they tuned the volume down a bit. Of course, it fits a movie with Loki in it.

On example I can probably savely give you, is how they handled Sif and Jane. Regarding each other. I expected some confrontation, some fluffy and unrealistic "We both love Thor, let's like each other in times of crises" scene. Well, it didn't happen. There are just subtle staring. A few moments on the screen, but not a single word, if I remember it correctly.

Alan Taylor was a good choice. So good, I would honestly pay 15€ again to watch it in the cinema.
Which is the highest praise you can get, in times of these.

The ending surprised me a bit, but it isn't unrealistic. It makes me want more. (duh!)

I hope i will find someone, who will discuss the differences between the comic's and the movie's, but as far as I can tell, it isn't a bad comparision. The 3D was well used, the concept art to die for, Thor had clear character development ... no better: he had character to display. It was a bit hard to see in The Avengers, but that movie just the beginning, to be honest. Die hard Loki fans will probably say there should have been more screentime for him, forgetting the movie is actually called Thor not Loki and that some developments must be taken slowly, if they should last more than one movie.

at last, about what surprised me most: I liked Darcy.

I didn't mind her in the last movie, but I detest the Loki / Darcy pair. It is founded on normal girls, who can see themselves in this character and who want to get closer to their Fandom God. Which isn't funny, because I realized that Darcy is a great person and Kat Dennings a brillant actress. So can you please stop ruining her with bad fanfics? Thank you.

Oh, and regarding Jane Foster: it could have been worse. She will probably won't be liked, but there's no reason to hate her. Especially not for the beautiful fics she will be providing.

And because of spoilers the hero of this movie will not be mentioned!

The next movie is 'Desolation of Smaug'. Girl next to me squealed, when she saw Thranduil in the trailer.I simply got weird ideas, how the dark bout obviously blond elves must be related to Malekith somehow. Crossover anyone?
