Character: Olwe
Rating: PG-13
Summary: I wondered how Olwe felt, when he had to leave Thingol behind?

Notes: Valinor's shores. Olwe is the only person of that generation with silbing, a brother. (Indis is a bit unclear). It couldn't have been easy to decide what to do after Thingol vanished. Many must have assumed that he was taken by the shadows, like other elves before him. Olwe had now divided people: the part who was even more afraid, now their king was gone and the other, who had to foolish hope he would return. I think it influenced Olwe's answer, when Feanor came to him. Because: if no one leaves Valinor, he isn't obiligated to ask what happened to the rest of his people.

“The only thing more unthinkable than leaving was staying;
the only thing more impossible than staying was leaving.
I didn't want to destroy anything or anybody.
I just wanted to slip quietly out the back door,
without causing any fuss or consequences,
and then not stop running until I reached Greenland.”
