New Manga Release List - June 6, 2007

Jun 07, 2007 17:49

The boss seems to have run off, or maybe I just missed the company memo again. For appearances sake, I’ll post the new manga list. It seems a little thin again! It really makes me want to cry! Any bets on which title had the most votes this week? A special thanks to the gang at Comic List  for doing all  the really hard work!

P.S. Ed, where have you gone? Drop us a line if you need a cash advance, or some suggestions for reading material. I hope that you aren’t lost in NY after the rigors of the BEA. Maybe you’ve already staked your spot in line to be one of the first to see Fantastic Four 2?  Hey! Jack hasn't check in either!!  What are you two Manly Men up to?

Pea is putting on a brave face and reading really scary stuff!  I wonder if she reads it just before bedtime??

My pick:

MPD Psycho vol. 1 - As controversial as the topic it covers, the book is an interesting piece to read. The drawing style is amazing, the main character is attractively eerie, and the plot is unpredictable.

Just make sure you set aside time to read this long after your brunch/lunch/dinner time. Thumbs up for the publisher! We probably will have this manga published here in the next decade.

Whoa!  Erin's just as excited about the release of a magazine as I am!  Otaku nerds, unite!

I'm stoked about Otaku USA.  Sure, it's really expensive, but that means I can cancel my NewType subscription.  I haven't been this excited about a magazine since Sassy went under in 1996.  (It may also be the case that I've been reading the book " How Sassy Changed My Life: A Love Letter To The Greatest Teen Magazine Of All Time".)

Besides, many of my podcaster friends are writing for Otaku USA.  Including the boss around here...  What could be more exciting than a smart magazine written by my nerdy friends?!  Nothing!!

Aliera's branching out and giving mecha a try. Are you sure there's a plot there?

Sorry I missed last week's pick guys >_>

My pick is Eureka Seven- I've just started reading this series because I enjoyed the anime series quite a bit, despite my usual dislike of mecha ^^; I'm not very far, but it looks like a promising adaptation of the anime. Eureka Seven was unique to me that it has a strong cast of characters that grow and change throughout the show, I hope this is the emphasis of the manga, too.

I'm totally surprised by Jarred's pick this week.  Not!!

Did you all expect me to pick something else besides MPD Psycho? I'm buying 5 copies!! And then I'm going to go to months of therapy. Thank you Dark Horse for putting out manga that keeps me reading.

As for Otaku USA, I might have to check it out after reading Heisei Democracy's thoughts on it, described as 98% burning spirit and 2% saccharin cuteness. Whadda ya know, that's the alchemical formula for myself!!

There's just not much this week for a mild mannered Manga Maniac to like this week.  There are a couple of Viz titles, but nothing to knock my socks off.   MPD Psycho looks like it will disturb my sleep with nightmares, so I must sadly turn my back on gruesome serial killers and nutcase police detectives - unless someone can convince me otherwise.  Please?

Otaku USA - Ok, so it's not manga.  I love flipping through magazines, so it's nice to see new publications hit the newsstand.  But at $9.99, will itbe worth it's hefty price tag?
