In case you haven't been informed, Publisher's Weekly a little while back started a weekly e-mail newsletter covering comics releases here in the US, which includes manga. So far there has not been too much info on manga, but this week there a few articles some of you might enjoy taking a look at.

Diamond Book Distribution Marks Third Birthday
by Calvin Reid -- 10/25/2005
Some nice little bits here by Kuo-yu Liang about the growth of manga into the bookstores, both chain and independent.

Dark Horse Plans Horror Manga Line; New Shirow and More
by Heidi MacDonald -- 10/25/2005
I've never really been into horror manga that much, but I think it's great that Dark Horse is taking this niche and running with it. The horror books sell quite well in the local comic book shops through Diamond. What I'm most excited about is the "More" part, Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima (Lone Wolf and Cub) return with Path of the Assassin, a 15-volume story starring legendary swordmaker (and Kill Bill reference) Hanzo Hattori.. Wicked! And don't forget Old Boy!!

Kodansha Halts Plagiarized Manga; Tokyopop Follows
By Kai-Ming Cha -- 10/25/2005
If you have not been following the manga wire lately, Yuki Suetsugo's Eden no Hana (Flowers of Eden) was stopped and pulled off the shelves due to alleged plagiarism. This of course led to Tokyopop stating that they also will not be releasing the title. But in a medium where artists frequently use other artists' works as influence, is this really about plagiarism or did Suetsugo-sensei just use the works of the wrong creator, the highly prolific Takehiko Inoue.

By Kai-Ming Cha -- 10/25/2005
I actually chuckled at a lot written here, but I did like Jake Forbes's down to earth answers.
