candle and soup

i lit a white candle and placed it in my windowsill looking thru the dangling grapevines to the backyard, disappearing in the lush green and yellow of autumn leaves.
i made comfort shepherd's pie for w and used the leftover potato water and lentils to make soup with carrot, potato, and celery added.
many dishes, many sad thoughts, too many bullets, too many lives to heal.
