Techie ranting time...
ugh... I hate.. HATE.. users who refuse to bypass a wireless router purely because they want to be wireless... the PC never moves.. the modem never moves, the modem is right next to the PC... why in whatever's name is it so important that your completely imobile system be wireless?
Nevermind the fact that 99.9% of telco's on the face of the earth will require you bypass your router for pretty much ANY troubleshooting steps. Nevermind the fact that home use wireless networking is still a relatively young technology compared to tried and true ethernet.
Nevermind the 300,000 war drivers out there who would just love to document exactly how far away from your house they can drop into your connection and do whatever they damned well want to your machines or over your connections with little effort at all.
But noooo... your 5 year old, never updated, piss-poor maintained, pathetically secured and utterly immobile machine *HAS* to be wireless because it's the latest technology that you STILL refuse to learn even the basics about.
Cause it's not technology. No, technology requires some form of understanding, which most obviously lack.
