"It Better End Soon"

And the better part of two weeks later, here is that post I was talking about. So, what has been going on the last two months?

1. Placement! Went very well, overall. It's nice to know I can work with high schoolers, too, including kids who have never played the piano before (and kids who can play it better than I can!). In my last week, I basically took over all day-to-day functions that my Associate Teacher normally would, partly because I was supposed to, and partly because she was out of the school for the week. So although I had fun working with her, I never got to properly say goodbye. Also had my first experience conducting a pit band, which was pretty cool. Somewhere at Sinclair is a recording of "Ice Cream" from Anne of Green Gables  played by the pit band and with all the vocals done by yours truly floating around being used for dance practices.. On my last day there, the pit band gave me a farewell card, a party, and lots of chocolate. I was sad to leave, but fortunately, I'll see them again soon because,

2. Practice Teaching Reports! Due to insanity of the final week on placement, my AT never did my evaluations. Oops. She's also hard to get in touch with, so guess who's going to pay Sinclair a visit on Wednesday and hope the PT office doesn't try to kill me? Oi.

3. School! It's nearly done, and in about an hour, I'm off to my last exam and to try and hand in my external hard drive, which I forgot to do today (this after it was mailed up to me when I forgot it in Whitby. Fail.). Once ABQ in the Junior division is done, I am looking forward to the end of classes for at least a couple of years, but oh boy do I need a job. Speaking of which,

4. Interviews! I had one with the Toronto District School Board elementary panel over placement, which went well, I think. Had another one in Dresden (about halfway between Windsor and Sarnia), which I'm not sure of the results for. If I pass either one, then I'm on their "eligible to hire" list, and I should know the results of both in about two weeks. *crosses fingers*

5. Anniversary! Hard to believe that Sarah and I have been officially together for a year as of the 18th. I wasn't in Durham on the exact day, so we celebrated a little early by using the trip to Dresden as a one-night getaway.

6. Jazz Night! This Wednesday, my brother's high school is putting on their annual jazz concert. What's really cool though is that our great uncle is the guest of honour. What's even cooler is that the department head, having taught all three of us, is having a brief feature where all three Hibberd brothers get up and play a couple tunes that Uncle Don specifically wrote for the concert, including one featuring said teacher and her husband, who is a phenomenal tenor player. My low range makes one of the pieces a little tougher than usual, but I'll just suck it up. Very excited for this!

7. Focus Shift! Posts have been sporadic over the last year due to me being in teacher's college, and because I have only a few people left on livejournal that I actually talk to, I'm going to be making a major overhaul on the blog, possibly even starting up a new account. After all is said and done, I will use it mostly as a posting ground for education- and possibly music-related articles. I'll still be posting stuff about my own life on facebook notes, though the privacy settings will continue to be jacked up and spring cleaning with regards to the friends' list is needed. I started this journal the day after my high school prom, and the layout still reflects that high-school and/or early university mentality, which is one I'm not really in anymore. So, sometime over the summer, expect major changes to appear, like Doctor Who under Steven Moffat (which is fantastic, by the way, Amy is on her way to challenging Donna for being the sassiest and most entertaining companion of the new series, and Matt Smith is only 3-4 years older than I am, which is pretty cool)!

Okay, that's all for now. Time to make some KD and then off to the exam!
