"Everyone's a Little Bit Racist" - Aug. 25

Avenue Q. What can I say? See the freaking show! In New York, Toronto, or wherever. Just do it. It's another one of those shows where I went in knowing the entire soundtrack and still laughed my ass off at the parts I knew and the stuff I didn't know about. I won't spoil it, but believe me, it's worth the money. The TV stuff had a few good homages to Sesame Street, and also provided a very cool way to acknowledge the pit band. I loved the women who did Kate Monster and the Bad Idea Bears. Thanks to Meg, Tasha and Shasta for coming to see it with me, you made that day even better than it already was. And Shasta, the book is really cool and authentic, right down to fact that it sheds orange fur all over my keyboard and desk (that's right). :)

And now, sadly, for a public service announcement. I was rather elated after the show, not just because of the show itself, but because I also got a call from a travel agency saying I had won a trip to the Bahamas. I believed it for the most part (mostly because they mentioned a draw that I had entered at London's ribfest), but there was still some part of me that was unconvinced. I called my mom to tell her about it and she was suspicious too. (Side note: the fact that I seem to have inherited her sixth sense for this kind of thing totally makes up for the fact that I have her short-term memory). So I googled the telephone number (212-736-6919) and from the first few results, you can tell it's definitely a fraud. So alas, I am not going to the Bahamas, but they're also not getting any of my money. Jen, you entered the draw with me, did you get this too?

Also, I lost my cellphone this morning. Third time I've gotten it back. Either I have good karma, or my phone has a built-in boomerang feature. Thanks Catherine for use of your cell, and random person who returned it!

And now...for the first time since the August long weekend, I have a day off in London *cues the Hallelujah Chorus*. In fact...there's nothing big that's work-related on deck until Wednesday evening. FUCK YEAH! Some writing, reading, and buying of groceries will happen in the approximately 48 hours of freedom I have before soph training and O-Week. Hooray!
