Crossposted from my social networking site. *WARNING! STARCRAFT 2 SPOILER ALERT*

‎So, I finished Starcraft 2 last night. I bought it on Monday for $63 and I'm fucking done with the single player campaign already. To say that I'm annoyed would be like saying that that ball of incandescent plasma in the sky is probably pretty hot. In case you were living under a rock, they tell you that this is the first in a TRILOGY of Starcraft 2 games.

Shit. The campaign was fun, mind you, and I enjoyed the interface, but I sure hope that they build on the choices you had to make just as they claim they will. Furthermore, could anyone else tell that you were going to have to kill Tychus...? I mean, duh. They have tons of foreshadowing that he's got some nebulous past that locked him into the suit, and hell they practically give away that he's in a damned governmental prison. Furthermore, after the fight between Raynor and Tychus in the Cantina, it's obvious that things weren't going to end well. The choices you make in the game have this sort of weird feel to them. I sided with the doctor against the Protoss, and I sided with Nova over Tosh. The Nova vs Tosh choice had immediate results as Tosh gets killed. The Doctor vs Protoss doesn't, as I find myself wondering whether there will be a case in a future game where the Protoss will abandon Raynor, or whether the Doctor really will cure infested humans.

The only real surprise for me was that you actually *cure* Kerrigan and she only kind of looks like a Zerg hybrid now. The dreads are kinda sexy, IMHO. They really played up the romantic relationship between Kerrigan and Raynor, making you actually feel a bit of human connection between the two. Maybe it's been too long since I've played Starcraft and Brood War initially, but I don't remember there being that much of a romantic connection. I know that the abandonment of Kerrigan was one of the things that caused Raynor to turn rogue, but that was just one of a few factors.

Also, did anyone else get a Serenity (sci-fi western) feel from the game? I mean, Raynor's a god damned Marshall and has a drawl that I don't recall as being quite so pronounced. I'm thinking they have a few Joss fans.
