Well, I'm watching the Bengals versus the Jets on tube whilst updating the Barbershop database (the one I promised would be updated months ago to the group). As I type this, the Bengals are losing, and this doesn't bother me all that much save for the fact that I'd love to see that Smug Braylon Edwards lose his ass off for absolutely declaring a victory against the Bengals B-team last week. My Willie Parker Jersey and new Steelers hat (courtesy of Christmas and my birthday, respectively) sit on a stool, turned away from the television so that the embarrassment of the AFC North's non-consensual sodomy can occur in some semblance of privacy.
Speaking of the Steelers, I was discussing with Matt the other day that I don't necessarily follow the Steelers as closely as I once did. After reflection, I think that I still do, I just don't watch the games with the same intensity. I think that it's partially because I played Fantasy Football in Mav's league this year, and the league got me to watching all games with a somewhat equal vigor. It's hard to explain, but I've been more interested in individual performances (damn that Michael Turner and Kurt Warner) as they had a more direct impact as to whether I was going to either lose my ass that week (which I did with great regularity) or if I was going to win (which I didn't really do that often). Also, it's rather embarrassing to admit, but I've had to be careful about watching sporting events because of my health. See, I have high blood pressure. I take medication for it, and it is controlled pretty well, but stressful events like high pressure sporting events and other such inanity have been known to make it spike. So, in order to make sure that I just don't keel over with a blown inner tube, I have been trying to make myself less emotionally involved in games which feature my favorite teams (the Steelers and the Ohio State Buckeyes to be precise). While this might make me seem like less of a fan that I'm not throwing shit at the screen and cursing Nuffle, the god of the game (Blood Bowl reference for those of you not in the know), I'm actually better off and I'm happier that I can enjoy what I'm watching and can take it with a lighter heart when the team loses.
Alrighty, back to the database updates. I am full of aches and pains throughout my hands, arms, and shoulders, which means that I must have been sitting in the wrong position or something. This of course makes repeated typing on the computer a GIANT pile of suck, but that is life.
Peas.
