What the fuck is going on? Please tell me they plan on announcing more bands or admitting 'jk guys' about the location. I've been waiting for Deck the Hall Ball since I moved back, hearing everyone rave about seeing The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Modest Mouse, and The Shins all at one concert sounded like a dream come true. I was waiting to be blown away by the bands that they scheduled for 2005. But come on, this line up? Death Cab is good, but I'm already paying $36 to see them on November 18th, seeing them three weeks from then when they're exhausted from their national tour won't be that great. Plus, since it's a huge commercial concert, they're probably likely to play songs from only Trans and Plans. Harvey Danger is all right, but nothing I'd want to pay money to see for the second time. I've seen Aqueduct two times, which is one more time than I needed to, since they do the exact same show with the exact same cues everytime. It's boring. I've never heard of The Saturday Knights, but if they're opening before Aqueduct, then that kind of makes them suck by default (pessimistic as that might sound).
My other complaints? It's on a THURSDAY NIGHT. AT THE SHOWBOX. You'd think that if they're going to host it at a small venue (they probably did that on purpose because there's no way they could fill up a big place with that shoddy lineup), they'd at least book it for a decent night. Paying $35 to go to the Showbox on a schoolnight for a bad lineup is not my idea of a good time. I paid $18 for one day at Bumbershoot, when Harvey Danger, Aqueduct, and DCfC all performed.
The only nice things I have to say about this show is that it's the night after my Fall quarter finals, which means I'm going to it in order to help myself forget how utterly I failed my math exam the night before. Plus, Death Cab for Cutie is headlining. -sighs- I'm Ben Gibbard's bitch, I don't think there are that many other artists who could get me to the Showbox on a Thursday night at the cost of $35.
