Confusion

I was thinking about a few things:
I read something the other day that said 20 years ago a college degree was your ticket to a good paying job and now it is your ticket to lots of debt.
I read something this summer that said "our" generation took longer in their transitional stages because we found certain things more important than previous generations. We don't find marriage as appealing; we want to travel and figure out what is imporant. These two articles seem to be about the same thing. If we can't find good jobs what are we supposed to do other than travel and try to figure things out.
What I hate is that the pressures seem to be the same as they were years ago, well the underlying big pressures. They don't change with the times. Societal standards haven't changed much either, at least in the eyes of people who like to give me advice.
I guess this is not all together true and I don't even believe it all. I was just thinking about it.
