I found myself wanting something different for dinner last night, but not really wanting to go out to get it. I asked
pickle_press whether he wanted to go out for dinner or not, and he said sure, but asked where. I thought about a lot of places and he suggested a local BBQ place. Nothing sounded good. So, I decided we'd just cook at home instead. I went to the grocery store with hopes of finding some sea scallops and making a great cream sauce to go with some linguine after searing the scallops with cumin crust. No scallops to be had. That was a great disappointment to me. Within the last month our grocery store opened its remodeled and expanded location here in town and they were carrying great, fresh seafood. When I inquired with the fishmonger about this, he indicated that not everyone is like me (tell me something I don't already know) and that they ended up pitching more than they were selling in the first few weeks of being open. I was not happy, but spied some fresh, sashimi grade tuna in the case...that sells? I thought. I bought two steaks and some raw shrimp to add to the red pepper soup I'd planned. However, there was no watercress to be found for the soup, so again, I was improvising. I bought some cilantro to make it spicy and to add some green. I already had brussels sprouts and spaghetti at home to make a side to go with the dinner.
Things turned out well in the end. Still, I'm left craving some scallops.
