Is the Prophet Lying CLOSE ROGER

Mandy had certainly not felt like herself in some ways the last week or so. She knew exactly what it was coming from but was refusing to accept it. She had been spending all her free time reading books she had bought or rented to do more research on her new finds from Mexico. Her room had certainly been filled with piles of books and papers in a ( Read more... )

Roger wasn't actually sure how he was still on his feet. He'd just left Maeve's and found a small pile of letter waiting for him. One was from his mother was assuring him that Lavender was still sleeping more than she was awake and that she'd update him on any changes. And there were a lot of changes Roger wasn't prepared to deal with. He was still coping with Lavender saying she loved him when she was half out of her mind - probably more than half - and the new Maeve had let slip about the physical effects the poisoning had had on Lavender.

He really should have listened when Maeve told him to sleep.

Instead, he'd read the other note, a rather angry one from Mandy that was a good enough reason to stay awake a little longer and avoid seeing flashes of Lavender thrashing around and hearing her terrified, shrill screams every time he closed his eyes. Granted, Mandy's wrath was never fun but it was definitely the lesser evil right now.

He knocked on Mandy's door, hands up in a placating gesture before she even answered.

As soon as she heard the knock on the door she knew who it was. It wasn't like Roger to ignore her owls, especially when she was an angry individual. And Mandy was certainly an angry individual at this moment in time.

She walked over towards the door and stood there with her arms crossed as she flicked the door open. If eyes could kill Roger would be DOA. But they couldn't so he was safe for now.

She saw his sign of surrender and the fact that he looked exhausted but right now she wasn't playing into that, "The Prophet?! Really? That's how I had to find out?!

"Oh, I'm sorry," Roger rolled his eyes. Snapping at her had been the last thing he'd meant to do, but he was on edge and had worked through nearly every emotion - at least partially - save the nondirectional anger. "Was I supposed to leave her bedside to owl you? Or maybe skip practice. Or have not gone to see Lily."

He shrugged past her, not violently but definitely without caring if he bumped into her. "Was there a step there where I should have been making sure all the proper people were notified?"

Mandy slammed the door a little harder than she planned and turned around, "Please come right in, bad attitudes are always welcome."

"Honestly an owl takes all of one minute Roger. Your mum could have sent something. Hell my mum was only a few floors off! That's not hard to do either," she said. Normally Mandy probably wouldn't have snapped at him like that. She was worked up over everything that she read and that Lav was hurt. Didn't she matter enough to them to let her know?

She ran a hand through her hair and bit her lip, "Do you want some tea?"

"I was too busy trying to get Lavender to notice where she was and drink the only thing that could save her while she screamed my name like she was dying and apologized. I was a little too preoccupied to worry about you!" It was cruel, far more so than he'd probably ever been with Mandy before, but he couldn't help it. He was not about to apologize for this.

Roger glared at her for long time before nodding. "Anything with caffeine helps."
