Wassup Holmes?
Sometimes - alright, most of the time - I love how fandom feels like one giant hive-mind. For the last few weeks my flist has been positively a buzz with two things: Inception and Sherlock. Everyone and their mother seems to be falling headlong into one of these two new fandoms and it's been rather entertaining to watch. Especially since I am most certainly one of them.
But which?
Well, as much as I loved Inception and left the theatre staunchly shipping Arthur/Eames, it's most definitely Sherlock that's stolen my heart. And mind. And soul. And every other part of me, really.
Ladies and gentlemen (but mostly ladies), I think I have a new obsession. /o\
I feel sorry for all my RL friends because I am about to become positively insufferable. I see all the signs: obsessive googling, doodling related things all over the place, having to fight back mentioning it whenever someone mentions something even tangentially related - which is all the time because I think about it constantly. Full blown obsession mode, then.
I just love everything about the show! The legitimately sociopathic Sherlock (played by Benedict Cumberbatch - and yes, that is actually his name!) and the ex-solider with PSTD of John (Martin Freeman), and the wonderful dynamic between them. The witty writing of Steven Moffat (of Doctor Who fame) and Mark Gatiss (who also happens to play one of my favourite secondary characters in the show), and their penchant for unadulterated slash-bait.
Um, so consider this your warning. This journal is about to become Sherlock central for a while. No telling exactly how long this will last. Usually it's somewhere between one year and three but my recent venture into polyfannishness has thrown all my usual patterns of of wack. I have some thoughts about the finale typed up so that'll probably go up later tonight. (I'm not at work right now because I actually feel like complete shite at the moment. Sherlock helps a bit though.)
Are any of you fans too? Or not so much? Tell me now so I know who I should and shouldn't be flailing to. :P
P.S. I've been in this fandom for like a week and there's already 50+ entries under the Sherlock tag on my delicious, including fic from some of my favourite authors. This fandom is gonna be totally awesome.
