A fever I still can't sweat out

Nine in the Afternoon is just about everything I expected it to be, plus some extra snazzy string arrangements I should have expected (but didn't) considering their producer is Rob Mathes. :P

I'm a little underwhelmed, to be frank, but hey it's certainly not terrible. It unfortunately seems to highlight all of Brendon's weaknesses as a vocalist and could have done with a little bit of simplification in the instrumentation but over all it isn't half bad at all.

My backhanded compliments, let me show you them!

But honestly? I think I'm really going to like this new album. I really do think so. I already love When the Day met the Night and the video for Nine in the Afternoon looks completely adorable (if also completely ridiculous *grins*).

Things are looking up!

But, strangely enough, the release of this new song is giving me this strange overwhelming feeling of nostalgia for AFYCSO. I'm listening to their old songs right now and enjoying them in a way I haven't for a very long time. I'm even smiling like a fool as I Write Sins comes on my player. There's this tight feeling in my chest that almost feels like pining. It's actually Pretty. Odd. (Okay, bad pun, sorry.)

As lovely as the new version is, I think I'm going to miss the old Panic far more than I'd originally anticipated. /o\
