I take this from a book I'm reading for one of my classes, Living My Life by Emma Goldman. Alex Berkman wrote it to her in a letter, just before finishing a 14 year jail sentence.
Geh stiller, meines Herzens Schlag
Und schliesst euch alle meine alten Wunden,
Denn dieses ist mein letzter Tag,
Und dies sind seine letzten Stunden!
Translated to English in a footnote as:
Go slower, beating heart of mine
And close, ye bleeding wounds
This is my final day
And these its waning hours!
I like the flow of the German as it seems much more poetic to me than the English.
