So, everyone knows what a big race fan I am...but I had never been to a race. =/ Coeburn does not count. So, Thursday night Melissa and I decide to see if we can get tickets to the Sharpie race to see Danny. This was almost an impossible task because I was supposed to work all weekend. So, we both get on the phone and start making phone call after phone call. It was crazy. Butt......the good news is--
my first real race at BMS was the Sharpie Mini 300.
It was awesome....I absolutely had the time of my life. Although, it was a little cold I am not complaining at all. There was like a 45 minute snow delay and Michael Waltrip was standing down from us throwing snowballs at us in the stands it was amusing.
The guys sitting beside me heard me say it was my first time at a real race so, being the sweetie he was (who ever he was from Wisconsin) gave me his radio thing so I got to listen to different drivers and their crew. =) Of course I tuned into Danny most of the time since we were pretty good friends at one point in time. It was so funny to hear his voice again under the circumstances and to hear his crew talk to him. *I am so proud of him though, he finished 11th...WoooHOooo thats pretty good for a rookie.*
But, at the end of the race I turned it to 5, so I could hear Kyle talk his crap. Ha ha...he was like all cocky about winning when he was in 5th position and sure enough he won. I was sort of disappointed because if Danny wasn't going to win I wanted Michael Waltrip to win...but get this....Danny did way better than Michael. So...who knows.
It was so exciting though....
Melissa and Micheal managed to get some free tickets to todays race so she called me at work on the hour to tell me who was winning. So, I only got brief updates from the track and when I got home I watch a little bit of the race. I did get to see poor ole Jeff Gordon get pushed around at the end. and Kurt win it. My man...Dale Jr finished 11th. What was it about the guys I was going for and finishing 11th?
hmmmm...oh well, i will say this. Saturday was my first of many more races to come at BMS.
***Sorry I missed you Gabe. Maybe we will travel together to a race sometime.****
