There is nothing more exhilarating than stepping out in front of a moving car.

For some reason I said "No" in a strong voice as I did it, even though the march is supposed to be silent.

Honking cars make my adrenaline rush.

At one point I stood on Main Street in front of three lanes of cars. I stared at them across the intersection while their headlights illuminated my face and the wind blew my hair.

At that moment I felt so powerful.

When you hold a megaphone in front of your face and speak to a crowd of people who are all there for the same reason that you are, when you tell them that we will not be stopping for traffic, that we are marching in solidarity... when you put down the megaphone your heartbeat quickens - you even smile a little despite your prior nervousness - as people with candles begin to follow your coworkers downtown.

You grab a sign and start running. Honking cars await.
