OMG... Common Sense!

An icon that reads:

Instead of fighting for unborn babies' lives, why not fight for the lives of fifteen million children living in poverty?

Why not, indeed? Why are we so worried about babies that aren't born, when we have a whole crop of them in serious need of our immediate attention?

I taught a kindergarten class in college, I had kids that by the age of five had already been homeless, and a lot of their parents couldn't afford to feed them breakfast, so I would go buy a bunch of boxes of healthy cereal, some fruit, sliced cheese, little breakfast-y items and make sure we all had a little breakfast in the morning. (Which helped, because there were some kids in my class that couldn't eat within the first hour or two they woke up or it made them ill, so having a breakfast snack later on was really helpful for them.)

What I can't stand are those who think that every fetus should be born; okay, I understand and even respect it, but what about AFTERWARDS? They don't vote for programs to help nurture these babies or teach their parents how to properly care for them. No concern for "The First Three Years," and even less funding for it.

That's not "pro-life" to me. That's "pro-birth." Once that baby comes out, they could care less about it or its quality of life. Newsflash: If you want that baby to be a productive citizen later in life, you have to put some effort, and yes, funding into it.

Don't want to pay out for someone else's child? I don't blame you... Then keep your noses out of women's wombs.
