This weekend, I was supposed to meet a cousin… actually she was supposed to be flying in to LA for four days, and wanted to meet me and my siblings. Didn’t happened. Kuya Jo did visit with my two lovely neices - Abbey & Aira (I call her “squishy.” and I got to spent a little bit of time with them before I had to go to work.
On the workfront? Relatively ok, almost all of my patients were OB/GYN and had hormonal emotional swings throughout the night. It was hilarious because my charge nurse, Chompu said “why must they whine? no need for whiners!!” because one of the patients was being such a diva. Oh, and cool thing was that one of my patients looked like
Natalie Portman! Last night was an impromptu party at my nursing unit - there was KFC chicken, roll cake from Paris Baguette, rice and other food goodness… and I was blessed to be working with such awesome nurses this weekend. Aside from Chompu… Tita Minerva (who has nicknames like “Coco” and “Professora”), Tita Cristeta (the “Madam”) and Kuya Dennis (kept on joking that his patient is all ultra shy because he has “pagnanasa kay lola.” XD) - yey team!
And I got into a fight!
Show ▼ This really haughty day shift nurse was being such a bitch! I was really behind and super busy with morning tasks… so while I was waiting for my patient who was in the bathroom, I grabbed the mobile computer and charting for a bit in front of that patient’s room. When she came out she had a bit of an unsteady gait but she wanted to ambulate around the unit… so I pushed my computer against the wall and walked with my patient. Anyways, apparently said day shift nurse burst into the nurses station, loudly asking “Who left that computer in the middle of the hallway?!! That cannot be!! In case of emergency!!” in a really condescending voice and wagging her finger at people. My fellow night shift nurses told her exactly why I had left it there, and Kuya Dennis even bothered to point out that it was NOT in the middle of the hallway but rather next to the wall. She was making such a big deal out her that our charge nurse, Chompu got pissed off and screamed back at her - “Can’t you see we are all busy here?”
Thankfully Chompu defended me and she even reprimanded the day shift nurse by pulling her aside and telling her “If you have a problem with any of my staff, you come talk to me! And don’t assume that you have the right to make statements at my staff, you are not even a supervisor!!” She was lucky that I was being professional and didn’t verbally fight back even though in the back of my mind I was really thinking - “Well excuse me for placing my patient’s safety than some damn computer!”
Later when we all came back for the night shift, we found out that she had her student nurse sign off the doctor’s orders! Which is a total NO-NO! Especially because the student nurse is unlicensed!
Said day shift nurse is big trouble!
Anyways on a happier note -
