Well, not a whole lot has been going on. Still recovering from the flu, two weeks later. But at least I can pretty much do everything I need to now. But as Jenn noticed yesterday, I don't have a whole lot of energy and any physical activity kinda takes it's toll. I walked from the Animal Science building to the Union with Jenn yesterday, and ended up huffing and puffing, and trying not to choke by the time I got to the ground floor of the Union. Note to self: decrease physical activity until I stop coughing up stuff from my lungs.
Other than that, I worked over the weekend, woot for making money, and I got to play with the new babies! They're both really cute. Gilbert, Kisses' colt, looks like a mule... he has a Roman nose (kind of a bump in the bridge of his nose) and larger ears, so he looks like a mule. Poor guy. But he's got a very friendly and playful attitude, which is good. Phyllis, Hunter's filly, is very pretty, she's got a very feminine shaped head, and very dainty features, but she's not too keen on people, so she'll need a lot more handling. There are now 4 mares at the farm who will foal soon. Lady (still), Bratilla and Little Girl (two minis), and Katie (a paint mare) who arrived on Saturday. Foaling season is fun, except that I end up being at the farm for 4 hours in the morning, and another 2 in the evening.
I also stopped by Christina's on Saturday, and cleaned Chance and Ruby's field. Man, that was so not fun. It took me two hours, cuz the manure was moist, since the ground was slightly muddy, and so basically all the manure and mud became one. That stuff is really heavy, and hard to clean up, but at least the field looked better, if not perfect. And I got to see my baby. I'm really going to need to stop by later this week to clean him up, he's got mud caked on him in a bunch of areas. And he's a big furball, oh well, he'll shed out soon (I hope).
Okay, now on to basketball. I actually did watch both the men's and women's ncaa tournament selection shows. So I was very happy to see the women seeded 7th in the Philadelphia region, and was disappointed, but not suprised to see that the men's team didn't make it in. Whatever. I think I may skip Uband this week and be in the pep band for the NIT game tomorrow. We'll see. At least I can say, without a doubt, that I will be going to the Women's Tournament games at Comcast. I'm so glad I convinced my dad to get the tickets! I'll be so basketballed out by the time next Tuesday is over. This Sunday my mom, dad, sister, brother and I will see the Ohio State/Holy Cross game, and then the Maryland/UW Green Bay game at 12 noon and 2:30. And then at 7 and 9:30, (Jackson will miss them) we'll get to see DePaul/Virginia Tech, and Penn State/Liberty. And then on Tuesday we'll get to see the two games with the winners from Sunday. I'm very excited! At least I know I'll get to see Maryland play in person, which is better anyway.
So basically, that's about all that's been going on... and some other bad stuff, like relationship issues with my friends. And one of our horses in the Equestrian Club had to be put down last Monday.
Katrina had a very bad case of colic, and basically just crashed. So some of the club's directors and some members who were there decided that the best thing for her would be to put her down. And the necropsy showed that she had three sections of her intestines that had lost blood supply, so she would have needed surgery to fix it, and the recovery might have been too much for her anyway. Poor thing. So we lost probably our best horse, considering anyone could rider her, and she'd do anything you wanted her to do. We'll miss you Kat.
Um yeah, and I forgot, we did get a new horse on Thursday. He came from the research farm in Clarksburg, and Dr. Burk thought he might work out for the club, but he couldn't stay there because he's a stall walker, and keeps losing weight because of it. Well, we're working with him every day, lunging him for a week, and starting to have him ridden for a week starting Friday. His name is Chester, and he's a 5 year old Thoroughbred. And he seems like he may not know a whole lot about being ridden, or at least lunging. My guess is he won't work out for the club, but who knows, he hasn't been ridden yet. He's sweet, but doesn't have a whole lot of ground manners, so he's really pushy with his head, but that can be fixed. We'll see what happens with him.
Hmm, I just remembered, Happy Birthday to my mom... yesterday. I'm taking her out to dinner today, since I couldn't make it to her dinner yesterday. Okay, that turned out a lot longer than I had planned, and kind of rambled a bit. My bad. Okay, off to get some lunch, I'm starving!
